I've come to realise that Gatso is a very useful resource if you use him properly.  For instance, I just heard on Top Gear that to pass your driving test in Finland, you have to be able to power-slide a car.

I have no idea if this is true or false, so I just post it on here and wait to see if Gatters pops up and declares it to be bollocks.

If it remains unbollocked for 24 hours, it's almost certainty kosher.

I used to specialise in felling difficult or dangerous trees, and I ran an advert which guaranteed that my quote wouldn't be the cheapest.

Reminds me of a summer job I used to have - the MD there never wanted to be the cheapest and had a poem framed on his wall - I've forgotten the exact words which is a shame - but the jist of it was it was better to pay too much than too little because the risk is far less.

This ring any bells?
“There is nothing in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and he who considers price only is that man's lawful prey.” John Ruskin

he also said “In order that people may be happy in their work, these three things are needed: they must be fit for it; they must not do too much of it; and they must have a sense of success in it.”

and

“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.”

wise bloke eh?

Awesome stuff. Right words, wrong Diary.

Great Pots by Muzzy & Skippy on the litigation thing, & loved all the wise old sayings, terrific stuff.

Pity about the poncy poetry though.

ADD 10 Diary Bonus Points for the sayings.

DEDUCT 11 Diary points for the bloody poetry stuff.

Every time I see one of those "DANGER RISK OF FALLING" signs on a wall, I feel like throwing myself off a wall without a sign and suing the council.

Would you climb this ladder?

Only if Natasha Kaplinsky was at the top of it holding a plate of chips, peas, Hollands steak pudding and gravy.

Old Fred was great viewing wasn't he?

It's like I was saying to Guy, enthusiastic people are so interesting and Fred was a real enthusiast. Steam engines, old buildings, antique tools and techniques, craftsmen.....

You think it fits better in Prose from a Poshboy or the Dejected Degenerate's Chronicles?

I was just glad to have found that last one, it was extremely serendipitous. Tom's diary prompted me to look for the first one and thus surely merited the inclusion of the last.

Could have been worse, could have been Tony's diary.

Finished his in under 30 minutes.  Thinking about it, there are sooooooo many things wrong with that statement.

white bread >>> the rest

White bread = bleached, over processed pap.

Get a bit of rough inside you: it's good for your colon.

FYP

Sorry for the delay, I've been in Vegas (thinly veiled I've been in Vegas brag).
