Does it say anywhere where those pics are of? i.e. the locations?

To the right of each photo.

Yes. There's explanatory captions if you click David's link.

Be careful though, you can only view then once before having to sign up.

Great photos.

It's interesting how the Boston Globe describes the photos in the past tense.  I wonder if that's an American thing, or just something that the paper does, but we'd usually expect the description to be in the present tense - as the action in the photo was happening when the image was captured.  For example, picture 23 the caption reads:

"A girl rested on a concrete column at the Holocaust memorial in Berlin."

I'd expect:

"A girl rests on a concrete column at the Holocaust memorial in Berlin."

Just me?

(the caption for photo 35 is written in the present tense, and to me reads a lot better than the others)

I agree, and yes, I did notice, but I'm overly sensitive about such things, so I decided not to mention it.

I knew it would only be a matter of time before a man of culture highlighted it.....

You can view all the images again, just go directly to one of the photo pages:

Not sure if this link has been posted elsewhere, but while we're looking at pictures...

http://www.boston.com/travel/gallery/reuters_images_of_the_year_2011/

Thanks David.

These are the ones that I particularly like. How do you go about getting a lightning shot like that?

We visited the Holocaust Memorial last year, but it's so vast that you can't grasp the scale from the ground. This design was chosen because it is unmissable. No one walks past and says "I couldn't find it"

I lol'd at this one

especially when seen in contrast with the one after it...

The lightning shots - well, this may help.. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Take-Amazing-pictures-of-Lightning/

Signing up to Boston Globe is pretty painless - you can opt for no emails or just use a seperate email address for junk as I do.

They produce a wonderful set of Glastonbury pictures each year too

Rested is not only used as a past tense.

To be at peace or ease; be tranquil. Is one definition that would fit with this without the relevance to past tense.

so rested in this case could mean at peace.

Well I bet they never knew that about Bovril, surely that's worth the admission fee on it's own.
