Would you prefer no music at all or is it just the type of music being played or plain and simple just too loud?

I would prefer no music at all. If I require it I, like most people, have music on my phone that I can listen to as and when I like.

If I must have it I would prefer it at a lower volume so that I can easily hear what the dealer and the other players are saying. (For the record, I hate rap. it sounds like two Welsh men having a row.)

I appreciate that DTD is a place of entertainment and as such probably needs to provide music, I just think it would be better if it was aimed more at the bar and gaming areas rather than over the poker tables.

I thought the music was on, MTV etc, to get staff through long shifts....

The commentary may be turned down, but the volume from the Geordies when they were beating Sunderland 5-1 back in 2010 wasn't.

I don't mind that at all because I don't have to look if I don't want to and the volume is always off or at a reasonable level.

Dealers can get a bit distracted but it's not a problem.

Caerphilly Castle Ladies FC exits league after 43-0 loss




A football team that suffered a 43-0 defeat at the weekend has withdrawn from the league it was playing in.

Caerphilly Castle Ladies' results in the Women's Welsh Premier League will be wiped out.

This season the side, whose first team walked-out last summer, found itself on the wrong end of 36-0, 28-0 and 26-0 scorelines as well as the 43-0 loss.

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) said the club had taken the move "with regret".

The team, known as the Castle, found itself in the headlines following its latest defeat, which meant the side had let in 219 goals and scored just one in 10 games.

Club officials had said earlier this week they were putting a "brave face" on the results and had no intention of giving up but the statement issued through the FAW indicated the club will focus on bringing on youth players.

It said: "With regret, the club has decided to withdraw its membership from the Welsh Premier Women's League with immediate effect.

"Caerphilly Castle is very proud of its tradition of nurturing young footballing talent over the years but the club has found it difficult to compete at the highest level of Welsh Women's Football this season.

Chairwoman Julie Boyce, speaking on Tuesday

"The committed officials of the club fully intend to continue their passion of developing players throughout the different age groups and hope to return to the Welsh Premier Women's League as soon as possible."

The senior team's results will be wiped from the records but the club wished the 11 sides remaining in the league luck for the rest of the season.

In terms of numbers participating at all levels, Caerphilly Castle rival Cardiff City for the title of biggest women's club in Wales.

They finished mid-table in the last two Welsh Premier League seasons, and in 2010 lifted the Welsh League Cup.

Changing the subject quite considerably.

Just read an article on BBC about dads being present during child birth and how, in the past, they rarely attended if at all. I would never have dreamt of mssing the birth of my two and it's got me wondering why?

I was there for the birth of all 5 of my kids. Much that than torment the nurse for information every time she comes out of the labour suite.

I played my first Venetian deep stack event last year.  There was some very loud rock music played over the speakers.  It was enough to turn me into a bag of tilt by the end.  Astonishingly dumb choice of background music if their aim is to attract punters.

I can't recall it ever bothering me at DTD but know exactly where you are coming from.

On a related topic, when I was at the athletics at the Olympics they had music on while people were running for Gold medals.  Was there a person in the stadium who had paid chunks to listen to some pop tunes?  Mo Farah on target for UK gold, we need something to get the crowd going,  put some JLS on, that will do it.

Giving the diaries their own board has turned out to be an inspired move imo.

We've always had some teriffic writers, but since the move, we seem to have an embarrassment of riches.

Probably not far off you, 46 this week.  

I don't mind a lot of music in places, maybe in another 5 years.  I have always been a huge fan of music, and have shelves full of vinyl and CDs.  I have more than my fair share of music from the noisier end of the spectrum.  I just wouldn't choose to put it on when I had a tough river decision.

The music at the Olympics was very weird, it wasn't like they played a whole dong, just snippets.  You'd be sat there thinking I haven't heard this for ages, and by the time you had thought it, they had switched it off again.
