True Ian Rush

Ian Rush is one from the less insulting end of a long list of moustachioed lookalikes.

One of the worst was, "When you speak, that tash looks like your Grandmother's minge riding a bike."

Just told the wife, "forget Lunch i feel a bit queezy" My Gran loved Motorbikes

That said it all!   LOL - I really can't stop laughing - your poor old gran.....LOL LOL ....Bless...

Politics free?  wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii  I'm going to hide over here with Mrs. Red where art, cake and girls are the norm.

Have you ever seen a girl jump out of a cake before?

Yes. These days it's the cake that interests me most.

Please excuse a little boast post.... and I know you like creative handicrafts etc.

I'm lucky enough to know some very talented and creative people, I recently asked one of them to make a present for my Mum.

She has one of those books of plastic pockets, which you can slide a4 pages into, in it she's printed a load of favourite recipes (which she made into a recipe book for my sister) and she adds paper cutting of recipes she wants to try. It's a bit ratty as it's always lying around the kitchen, and while she's a good cook & a great baker, she's a messy cook and a messy baker.

So I bought another one, and got Hamish to make a leather cover for it, the idea being it was Mum's spellbook or grimoire (no she's not a witch but I tease her about it).

Hamish does his leathercrafts ina wee cramped room at the front of the canal boat he and his girlfiend live oon - I have no idea how he manages.

Anyway:
Hamish & the book.

His work's not cheap, but it's all done by hand and is really good.....

I was just so chuffed with it.

What a wonderful present Rod. I bet she's thrilled to bits.

Things like that become heirlooms, handed down from generation to generation. the beauty of this one is, each new owner could add a page about the previous one.

BTW- Hamish looks like someone I could add to my 'hero's' list.

Good spot Red - that was the thinking - we lost a lot by being abroad when I was small, didn't get long with my Scots Granpa, he died not long after we got back, my other Grandpa was a Cockney & he died when I was young as well. Neither Gran was much for writing their stuff down.

Thankfully my Mum is into her computer, and makes books using these online bookbinding companies, and has scanned lots of old photo's and family stuff, so we've books of family pictures, and cuttings from Dad's career, and her recipe book. This will hopefully inspire her to put more down on paper.

Hamish only took up leatherwork a couple of years ago, thankfully he posted his work up online (on another forum) - his skills have grown brilliantly.

More of his work here:  http://half-goat-leatherwork.blogspot.co.uk/

Absolutely nothing, but they didn't contribute to his possible inclusion in my 'hero' list.
