We now have a snooker MC who's job it is to whip the audience into a frenzy of vocal excitement, only for the referee to spend the next 4 hours telling them to be quiet.

Let's get the boys...on the baize!

Don't blink or you'll miss him. It's the Rocket. Ronnie O'Sullivan!

He really is no John McDonald.

What an interesting person Terry Griffiths turned out to be now that we've had time to get to know him. I love the quiet, lilting, unabashed way he dispenses his wisdom.

I'm sure his individuality and strength of character had more to do with his winning a world title than his ability did.

I believe he's become a very successful coach & mentor now.

Have to agree, he speaks with great insight.

Was surprised to see he is 66 now. Amazing how time flies, I remember him winning the World Championship as if it were yesterday, with his poncy hair, & sort of humming songs between shots.

Griffiths, out of the blue, "We're all human, we all want to be loved, and we all get wet in the rain".

Virgo, after a long pause, "Well I can't argue with that".

I hate it when a payer stops to think for a moment and a caption pops up.

Shot time - 38 seconds....

Why do snooker players and commentators refer to striking the ball well as 'Timing'?

"He's timing the ball well".

Trump does a particularly spectacular screw back shot. "That's pure timing".

What does time have to do with it FFS? The balls are stationary, they will wait all day.

I used to play snooker to a reasonably high standard but I never understory the concept of 'timing'.

Cuing straight, yes. Hitting the ball in the right place, yes. Timing? I'm sorry, you've lost me.

It's the way you hit through the ball. Acceleration through the ball in the right way.

That's just maintaining a good cue action after the ball has gone so as not to influence the motion pre strike.

If timing is a euphemism for that they should explain it better, especially as for the most part, they are talking to laymen.

What about the timing for the engine in a car? Isn't it the same?

Everything working in perfect harmony to achieve the optimal performance.

Timing in golf is similar to timing in snooker, neither over-accelerating not under-accelerating but getting just the right tempo of the swing/stroke to get the maximum from your technique whether it is good or not.

Coordination plays a part in having good timing too.

My we're grumpy today.

Oh my goodness! I hope I didn't come across a grumpy. If I did it was entirely unintentional.

Apologies to all concerned.

Perhaps a tad tetchy or irascible rather than grumpy.

No apology needed, I do it all the time more and more often.

Anyway, I like it when Griffiths says that someone is cooing bootifully.

No, grumpy, I'd say.

I was quite offended by his tone.

Note to self: do not get involved in a dick swinging contest with the rastafish, it can only end badly when he gets lucky and you awake the beast! Sad

Can confirm Tom is in a grumpy mood today but I think it has something to do with the poor quality of tea he has been served in DTD... Honestly this man has high standards when it comes to tea drinking!

Anyone else like Eurosport's commentary team?

I genuinely am coming to think it's just me.
