Without crashing in on Tom's diary, thanks all.

Yes. I hate it when people post on my diary.

Teaching Kizzy to hold. (last doggy vid, I promise)

This is her first lesson so don't expect anything earth shattering.

I've been awake for over two hours, but I'm still in bed, which is unusual for me. Now I have a choice, lie here browsing blonde and listening to the rain, or get up, put the heating on and make a cuppa.

Love it. So does the dog, by the look of it.

Not sure he has much say in the matter even if he doesn't!

I bet a pound to a pinch of pig shit some jobs worth official tells him it's illegal or animal cruelty or something.

I've been stopped by the police for having Kizzy in a basket on my pushbike, and for having a four foot tall Shetland pony in the back of a six foot tall Transit Van.

The RSPCA told me that my lurchers were too thin, and that I couldn't put a horse on a tether, (but apparently I could keep it locked in a stable indefinitely).

Mini rant over. I know their intentions are good.

I bought the super sized top box because it's big enough to carry a can of instant puncture repair, a tool roll and disc lock with room to spare for my helmet and jacket when I park the bike.

£22 brand new off eBay. How the hell do they do it?

I don't think I'll use it for our European adventure, I think some soft panniers and a rucksack strapped to the pillion will be better.

I a paid a fiver for couple of panniers like the one below on the car boot. The straps for attaching them to the bike are missing and I don't have a rack for them anyway, so I'm going to join them together by sewing two pieces of seat belt between them so that they will throw over the seat like saddlebags.

I have a bit of vibration on my forks when I apply the front brake at anything over 30 mph, and at slower speeds I can feel the brake lever pulsating beneath my hand. I suspect that the front brake disc is slightly warped.

Fortunately I managed to buy a brand new second hand one off eBay for £19.50. I will be attempting to fit it today, if I can work out how to get the wheel off. (Do I need to remove the caliper first, (or at all even)?

Aye, practical considerations for actually using the bike can cost, or mean sacrificing the look.

I've got panniers to fit to mine, got them cheap on Ebay - but don't like the metal studs all over them - I'd have had plain black leather, still at least they don't have tassels....

Was looking at Silverman's website, they use military webbing and packs to make saddlebags - a few cheap drybags for inside & they'd do a job.

Am also thinking of the pacsafe helmet bag to allow me to chain the helmet to the bike & save carrying it about. This is costing a fortune & it's the interim learner bike...

Never been much into looks over practicality. (Just look at my clothes if you don't believe me). Plus I enjoy adapting stuff or finding work-arounds.

Once I have all my luggage sorted, I'm going to pack as if I were really going away, ride around locally for a few miles to see how it feels, and then do a test-camp in the garden.

After that, well do a meet up somewhere and do a test camp together. (I wonder if we would have to pay two fees on a campsite, or if we could have two tents on one pitch?
