A dentist pays $50k to go on a hunt where he shoots and wounds a lion with a crossbow. It takes a further 40 hours to track down the lion and put it out of it's misery.
I hope social media has it's way and his business is ruined. At least that might stop him from financing any more big game hunts.

Terrible business, just read on social media that the same guy got arrested for killing a black bear in a national park, could all be propaganda but I wonder what he gets out of killing the animals? (There are pictures of him on his on FB with various dead animals)

There is no relevance or storyline to this photo. I just happened upon it, & thought it rather lovely.
As you were.

A remarkable 14-year photo project by Beth Moon, who documented the world's oldest trees:

Hi Tom,
Just passed this van just down the road from ours.
Tried to get a better picture but Darren wouldn't stop the car. What I thought was strange is ( not just the spot they have stopped and the tents) but that there is just 2 youths and a little girl of maybe about 6 to 9 yrs. Is it usual for young' uns to venture off?.

Unusual Maureen yes.
Definitely not Gypsies, perhaps 'new age' travellers.
I can't imagine why anyone would choose to camp so close to a junction and on a slope to boot.
They can't pitch the tent level and the waggon is blocking the pavement and using the lamp post as a brake. There's nowhere to light a fire or graze the horse. There must be a better camp than that somewhere.

We thought they might be wanna be's. The horse is tethered just in front on the van. But they all looked so young.

Every morning, I walk past a sign outside a tradesman's entrance.
Says something like 'No access to refuse collection without banksman'
My money is on you knowing what a banksman is, no pun intended.

Yes. I've made use of many a banksman. (And many a tradesman's entrance too) No pun invited.
A banksman is the bloke who supervises the loading and unloading of goods. He's the one who makes hand signals to the crane operator, shouts "Back a bit, back a bit, left hand down, come on... come on....." to the lorry drivers, and kicks the stevedores up the arse every now and then.

Stevedore?
(It's like we are separated by the same language)

A stevedore is a docker, as seen in this pic from Wiki.
I suspect the geezer standing on the barrel is the banksman.
