Correct yung David.
I was going to listen to it but it will be a truncated version and don't want to spoil it.

I popped into Foyles today & saw it was on the shelves, but it's the hard-back, & they wanted £25.
So I'll have to wait until the paperback version comes out, which I think will be on October 30th.
Been a while since I was so excited about the publication of a book.
There's an interview with him in the supplement of today's Times, too.

It's £11 quid on kindle. I'm scandalised but I must have it.

Mind you, I paid £11 for burger & chips the other day and thought no more about it.
(Come to think of it, I obviously did or I wouldn't have mentioned it here but you know what I mean)

Hi Tom,
Not been on here for a few days so missed Tikays lovely pic of the old cars.
Looks like you did pretty well with the makes/models.
BUT i think the car in middle, third one in you say is a maxi, is actually an austin 1800, the rear lights look wrong for a maxi.
I think it’s a woleseley not sure of cc size

I hope it’s better than some of his offerings
I thought a walk in the woods was a great read but I’ve struggled with some of his next books

That's fair comment Tony. A Walk in the Woods was a story whereas a lot of his other books are just a collection of facts told in an interesting way.
Horses for courses and all that.

I have loyalty cards for both Foyles and Waterstones so I keep a close eye on both places.
It would be nice to support independent bookshops but it's really hard to find any now - I would never let sentiment get in the way of practicality anyway though.

Since you posted this I've been trying to think of instances where I let sentiment get in the way of practicality but I can't.
I still have the wife, does that count?

OK. I've thought of a proper example.
I have a little snicket gate in my hedge that gives access on to a public footpath. The gate is only about 3ft 6in high and I have allowed the hedge to grow over it so that it looks unused and is in fact difficult to spot for a casual passer by.
The problem with this arrangement is that the hedge created a tunnel effect and when it's been raining I get soaked squeezing through.
So about 10/12 years ago I cut a hazel switch which I use for beating around the bush, as it were, to dislodge the water that is sitting on the leaves. When I've finished with it I just throw it on the ground and there it sits until next time.
It's getting quite tatty now, and about two years ago a around 9in snapped off the end leaving it slightly too short.
I could easily cut another one it would only take a few minutes, but I like this one.
