billy connoly's and peter kays reduced me to tears every other page, I just see them saying it in my head and I go

I like Billy Connolly, but I have heard on a couple of occasions that he is totally obnoxious in "real life"

I try to ignore that kind of malicious gossip, but sometimes you can't help but wonder.

 i have had lunch with Billy Connelly on a couple of occasions and he was a perfect gent and great company.

Did Billy pay for lunch?

Did you have any bread rolls?

Yes, I read "The Moon's a Balloon" It was Excellent, as was "Bring on the Empty Horses"

In the mid 80's i lived in Bermuda.My boss was one of the Islands top marathon runners and very friendly with the Premier (Mr Swan iirc).As such he was invited to dinners at the Premiers residence and on occasion (if the guests were to my liking) i accompanied him.Also had the pleasure of dining/socialising with Grete Wietz (sp),Ingrid Christianson,Graeme Souness,Sugar Ray Leonard,Cliff Richard (!!),Nottingham Forest F.c, and a drunken evening with members of the England Rugby Union Squad.  
My bosses brother owned the main nightclub in Hamilton (Forties) and i also spent a bit of time "relaxing" with Birminghams reggae group Steel Pulse and one  drunken evening got up on stage to sing (or wail) with the Climax Blues Band.

Yes, read it. saw McEnroe in a different light ever since.

Read "Serious" on holiday and was quite surprised as well. Also read "The Kite Runner" quite a fantastic piece of fiction and "The Professor, The Banker and The Suicide King" which you would think was fiction also..

For many years I didn't have access to the library. Now that I do, I use it all the time.

I found it so exciting to have free access to all those books, and the novelty never wore off.

I was a Library Member for donkeys years, in fact I belonged to three at one time, plus a "Travelling Library", which was a built in a Park Royal bodied Scammell-engined chassis.

I got banned by them all eventually, as I was terrible at returning books. I'd take out the maximum (3) from each Library, & read the lot in a week.

I fondly remember reading the Clive James's autobiography. He's written 3 volumes, the first Unreliable Memoirs is a classic.

I am a member of my local library, however i dont take advantage of the facility like i should.  My main problem is making the choice, if somebody recommends a book i'm set but for me to pick out of so many is daunting and generally puts me off.  What a pathetic excuse but i'm sticking with it!
