I love biographies. I read peoples potted life stories on Wikipedia all the time.
I was particularly impressed by Esther rantzen,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esther_Rantzen
I would welcome links to any others you think might be worth a read.

The Long Walk details Slavomir Rawicz's capture by the Russians and subsequent escape. Unfortunately there has been some doubts cast about the validity of the story but it's still worth the read just incase.

Try & have a butchers at Christopher Reeve's life story. Some brave man. A real tear-jerker.

Yes. Read his life story "Still Me" Amazing story.
Great title BTW. (I love good titles) One of my all time favorite titles is "Children of a Lesser God" How evocative is that?

Bob Geldof's "Is that it" is excellent. You wonder how on earth Live Aid was accomplished.
Nelson Mandela, Muhammad Ali and Brian Clough are my heroes. There bios are excellent.
Older film star bios I've read are Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis.
I have read a lot to do with the holocaust, I find it very interesting but chilling at the same time. I met an elderly polish couple once when I was selling door to door. They were among the nicest people I have ever met and when the wife reached out to pour some tea I saw her tattoo, and tears welled in my eyes. They placed the sale but I took all of my commission out. I didn't tell them that, you don't embarrass proud people now do you.

That's a nice post Mr B. I haven't read Geldof, Let's see what Wiki has to say.

I like Billy Connolly, but I have heard on a couple of occasions that he is totally obnoxious in "real life"
I try to ignore that kind of malicious gossip, but sometimes you can't help but wonder.

this sort of thing interests me when I think about people reading autobiographies or authorised biographies, do you take them as gospel or with a pinch of salt.
for example I have a very good knowledge of the life of one the people named above and while his biography makes him out to be a bit of a saint the guy is actually a complete arse.

It's been a while.....too long....... since I had a catch up on this diary..............I'm reading fewer & fewer books!
You talked about dogs & dog books on here in the not too distant past, I stumbled on to a gem of a book called
'The Bad Dogs Diary' by Martin Howard. I bought it for my other half as a stocking filler last Christmas (she's still to read it).
It is among the funniest books I have ever read.....you see we have three dogs, a Collie (rescued), a Jack Russell (left with us for a week by a 'friend'..... five years ago!) & a Toy Poodle (inherited). They all have such different characters & this book is written from the dogs (Blake) perspective & boy does he have character!
I can almost guarantee that any dog owner will cry laughing.....several times....I did!
