I don't get it. where are the wheels? how big are they, do they come up inside one of the rooms? I thought it was just a big box

No. They sit underneath. Little tiny wheels not much bigger than the ones you would see on a wheelbarrow.

I was in Burton on Trent today, and I noticed this tree. Obvously someone has gone to a great deal of trouble to preserve it way beyond it's sell-by date.

Does anyone know why?

I think it's a yew tree Tom, and they have always been considered to have mystical, magic properties.

Many churches were built on sites that were pre-Christian pagan holy places in which the yew tree was a central figurehead, which is why there are so many yew trees in church grounds.

So my guess is that it's outside a witch's house.

That's a great theory Ralph. I'd love to know if its true.

It's on the site of the war memorial, although I don't know what was there before. I think I know the ideal person to ask about this, but I'm not likely to see them for a while.

I could answer any questions you have about The Dog though!

I went down (or up) the smoke today. (I'm still there now, contemplating the drive home) I'm here for part two of the ongoing process of having my railings repaired.

I arrived early, so I had a pot of tea at a pavement cafe.

When I have time on my hands, I'm prone to musing, so as I sat, I mused.

How come, I mused. That nearly all the sparrows have disappeared, and yet there is a great flock of them all squabbling over the same discarded bag of chips on this street corner?

What happened to the sparrows anyway? When I was a kid they were ten a penny.

Then, in a more serious vein, I mused about what the world would be like in another 200 years. Would we have any wild creatures left at all, would all the rain forests be gone, would we still be killling each other because of religion or polotics?

I couldn't even begin to guess what things would be like 200 years from now. Well not on just the one pot of tea.

PS- No one ever looks at anyone else in London.

And still musing....

How long will the average person live in 200 years time?

Will cloning humans be commonplace?

Will women still have to carry babies around in their belly for 9 months?

How will we travel? (Personally I think we will have perfected the matter transporter)

Will countries still have borders?

Will Sir Cliff Richard still  have a Christmas number ones every decade?

Will we still have Christmas....

While driving in London today, I saw this. It was in a sort of run of the mill, factories shops and offices type area and looked completely out of place.

Anyone know what/where it is?

PS- Scuse dodgy pics taken from car window.

It's a Hindu temple in Neasden - the largest in the world outside India.

Whilst I haven't actually seen the thing live, I'm aware it's there and remember when it opened. So when I saw the photo I thought it looked a bit Hindu and Google gave the links.
