For Simon Trumper.

Guess the reserve price at Auction.

Not really my field , but somewhere close to a £1,000,000

Done.

From my Diary, 12th September 2009.....

For Simon Trumper, who is doubtless very busy right now with EPO preparations.

The DTD-run EPO will run as smoothly as this Tourbillioin.

Simon actually owns a Tourbilliion, (amongst many other fine timepieces), but I think it's worth a little less than this one.

Swiss manfucturer Patek Phillipe has the world’s most complicated wristwatch ever to his credit. And this exclusive luxury watch called the double-faced Sky Moon Tourbillon is to go on sale on October 7 at Patrizzi and Co.’s Madison Avenue showroom. The estimated price tag, we are told, lies between $1.1 million and $1.3 million.

You must be wondering what exactly does makes this timepiece complicated. Well for starters, it is a rare combinaion of 18-carat yellow gold that has a black dial display for a perpetual calendar and minute repeater. Again, there is a cool tourbillion escapement too. And if that wasn’t complicated enought, then turn to the reverse side of the dial that shows a sky chart and sidereal time.

Since we know how traditional this auction if going to be, it will also sell two limited-edition sets by Patek Phillipe. So far a total of 150 watches are lined up to be auctioned off. These include a set of four platinum watches with Barques dials, a set of four white gold Birds of Paradise wristwatched. The watches will be opened for public viewing only on Saturday, October 3 till October 6.

I did a little light research on Torbillon watches (oops at previous spelling) & they often fetch - new - up to $1,000,000.

How?

I once purchased a (for me) fancy-dan, pricey Swiss Watch, & it never kept good time. I took it back frequently, but when the jeweller said "ahh, yes, Mr Kendall, these watches are so fine & delicate, they need adjusting due to the characteristics of the individual wearer" I knew I'd had my leg lifted.

So I went & got a Timex.

My mobile phone has a clock on it.

And very accurate it will be too, being precisely my point.

Having said that, I can't work out how to tell the time on the piece of poo Moby that Maria foisted upon me.

Yes - in miscroscopically small digits. Ridiculous. A timepiece needs hands. A big one, & a small one. That's how clocks work, hands, not digits.

Thanks Tom

Looks a good option as would take up less room. A lad at work was saying his brother had mocked one up using one of those mini portable car ramp things we used to see years ago.

Geo. Do you have any idea of your aveage speed while cycling, or, (same thing) how far you travel in an hour?

BTW- I don't mean flat out flogging yourself, I mean your normal riding speed.
