Remember I posted a pic of a child sitting on a milk churn a while back? I said at the time we had one just like it.

My sister Susie is on the right, and my daughter Muzelley (Now in her 30's) is sitting on the churn.

She's not family. Her name is Larinda, She's the wife of a young man we used to stop with called Henry, "Sparks" (on account of his volatile temper) Price. I haven't seen either if them for over 20 years.

Henry and I  used to play pool in a pub called "Dirty Arthur's" so christened because he used to clean gearboxes in the saloon bar.

One day Henry accidentally feathered the white ball while lining up a shot. "Two shots" I exclaimed. "Get F***ed" He replied.

The conversation carried on on this vein for a few minutes and ended when Henry offered to stick the white ball up my arse, and I invited him to try.

It was a close run thing, but a combination of a stout belt with a difficult buckle, and Dirty Arthur threatening to "bray us wi' t'  lump 'ammer" if we didn't behave, saved me from being put in a very embarrassing snooker.

Some great photo's there Tom. In this one I do believe you are wearing a cheesecloth shirt. Top bombing they were.

With regard to your poker hiccup you have my synmpathy. I had a similar run for about four months at the end of last year. Getting out drawn an unbelievable amount of times. Joo would be watching sometimes whilst I was on line and just couldn't believe how it was constantly happening. To be honest although it wasn't good seeing the bankroll decline I knew I was playing right and I just had to see it through. Then it suddenly all changed. Early January I won a live comp and then won a seat to DTD on line. I went to Vegas and the run continued, came back and made final tables in the first two live comps. IMO doing nothing different than before except my hands held up and won my share of races.

As long as you feel you are playing correctly then it will pass. Good players don't turn bad over night my friend just keep heart and it will turn around.

Good luck.

What I find a bit sad about the Curling is that the commentators seem to know next to fek all about it so they're not able to enlighten us as to the intricacies of the tactics and what is going on. It acts as a barrier against me getting into it.

If you comare that to the ice dancing, they have a commentator there that really knows his onions.

Although I don't post on PHA, I do read it on occasion, and I see some stunning analysis, but it's usually after the analyser has considered everyone else's thoughts, and then sat back and had a think about it for a while. I'm not saying that this isn't extremely helpful, but you don't get that luxury when you're playing.

The idea of analysing a hand afterwards is to see where you went wrong. Of course we all have plenty of time to think and some even change their mind during the course of a thread but that's the whole idea.

You play a hand. You analyse the hell out it at your leisure and discuss it on the forum. Next time it comes up you play it better or at least don't make a complete hash of it.

You don't get the luxury of time while you're playing but if you don't use that luxury afterwards how are you going to stop it happening again.

If you were put in an awkward spot in a regular day to day job and didn't have a good answer to a question what would your reaction be? Would you go home and think "well next time he asks I won't have the luxury of time again so I'll just forget about it". Or would you maybe do a bit of research so that next time you were asked the same question you could give a complete and accurate answer and maybe even know a bit more than the person who put you in that spot?

Poker is your job Tom. Your job the same as any job requires training.

Do some training and you will improve your abilities in your job imo.

Lots of good posts so far Tom. It's taken me ages to catch up, loved Woodseys bird pictures in the snow thumbs up

Hold Em manager, and analysing your play is just so important you really are giving up an advantage not using it even if you dont play online.  Do you ever use pokerstove to assess equities in hands you've played/are thinking about? It's a very helpful tool. People seem to think that the hud or stats  from HEM 'play for you' when in reality you have to learn how to use them and until you do they can probably hinder your game. Imo you should deffo start posting regular hh's where you have found yourself in tough spots.

Very often the hands that I do the most thinking about are not the ones where I won alot or lost alot on (because in most of those situations the money is going to be going in if you reverse the holdings) it's the small ones, as the small pots really are where your profits can add up. The more you play the more you notice subtle spots where you can take pots down uncontested or apply pressure through relative position and have great success with your bets.

Are you game/seat selecting the best you can at dtd? I've not been too regularly recently, are the games still juicy enough to survive on? Live is most definitely a better idea than online for making money imo.

They need to play the Wii version on Mario & Sonic do the Winter Olympics. It's actually pretty entertaining, and you work out good tactics after 3 or 4 games Smiley. And getting your other half to do the brushing with the Wiimote is good practice for her Wink.

I'd just like to say a huge thank you to everyone for taking the time to offer their advice, both on here and via PM.

Apart from improving my game, it does wonders for my faith in human nature.

Cliff notes.

Go out into the garden rather than lounge in the living room

Put your crisps in a bowl instead of dipping your hand into a jumbo size bag.

Dance to the radio rather than sitting back and enjoying celebrities waltzing on the TV.
