I'm liking them.  Not near as annoying as crows can be.

Took me a few days to figure out he was up there.  Kept seeing wee fluffy white feathers on the ground at the back door.  Searched the yard for 'the body' thinking a cat must have got hold of a bird.  Then the other day a feather floated down right in front of me.  That's when I decided looking up might be a good idea.  Sure enough...

Oi!! Lay off the crows. them's me favourites.

I was telling an old farmer of my love of crows.

"They're like Gypsies" I waxed lyrical... "Dark and swarthy, noisy and unkempt, but amazingly intelligent, enthusiastic and industrious. They are nature's opportunists".

"Yes" he replied, "The buggers will steal anything".

Re: Frigging birds - I always found really annoying neighbours when staying in a a caravan park are best dealt with by the midnight lobbing of some bread on their van roof - trooping of the colours for the seagulls at first light while they're hangover's just hitting. Nearly as effective as a bread-trail for ducks into someone's tent then closing it behind them...

I broke up some bread on Sunday and threw it out in the yard for the birds.  It's still there!  Can't figure out why none of them will go near it, but it's looking like I'll have to pick up the lot and bin it now.

This time of year there is an abundance of food that is much more nutritious and interesting than bread. (That's why the birds choose to raise their young now).

Feed em in winter, but preferably not bread, it's poor quality food nutrition wise. Commercially available fat balls are very cheap and super calorific - expialidocious.

NB: Throwing food on the yard = feeding the rats, not the birds.  police

Thought of that.  Turns out even the rats didn't want it.     All picked up and in the bin now...just to be safe.
