Cliffs: Clever lady scientist realises that transmitting power wirelessly through the human body is easier than a lot of peeps have been saying; invents tiny device that can move and steer through bloodstream, controlled wirelessly. Moves itself by generating electromagnetic fields in the blood that push itself along. Very cool stuff.

Did debate which diary to put this on, but the other one's got a bit arty for me recently.

This is almost science fiction Rex. Obv the next step is to shrink a medical team down to microscopic size, put them into a miniaturised submarine, and send them in to sort out any problems.

Bear with me here, I'm going to fly in the face of convention.

Anyone who knows anything about photography will tell you that using digital zoom is pointless because it doesn't actually get you any closer. All it does is crop into the image on the sensor, and you can do that on your computer at a later date with the same, if not better results. In the world of photography, digital zoom is the spawn of the devil.

On the face of it, that seems to made perfect sense, but I experimented a little, and the results really surprised me.

If, for instance, I take a picture of a distant stationary car at full optical zoom (12x) the car fills the frame.

Then I take a picture of the same car, supplementing the optical zoom with digital zoom (36x) now one wheel fills the frame.

I then take the first, optical zoom only picture, and crop it in my computer until one wheel fills the frame.

So now, the crop from the optical zoom pic and the digital zoom pic show the same thing, namely a car wheel filling the frame, but the optical zoom one is only 225kb while the digital zoom one is 1.2mb.

I have no Idea if I have explained this very well, but if what I'm observing correct, digital zoom, in some circumstances can be really useful, and definitely a better alternative than cropping later.

Phew! I'm so glad this had a happy ending.

I've seen a couple of bogged down horses, one we managed to free relatively easily, the other was dead when we found her, poor girl.

The worst "Trapped horse" situation I ever saw was a bay yearling colt that became totally entangled in some barbed wire. He panicked and thrashed around, causing horrific damage to himself in the process.

We would been able have been able to untangle him, but we couldn't keep him still. He was tearing himself to pieces. We had no choice but to put him down.

Interpolation indeed.  That's why I commented on my Moon/planet pictures that I'd used digital zoom whereas I would never ever use it under any other curcumstances. 

When there is a clear Sky I'll take a few more shots and try your optical/digital experiment to see the results.

One thing I would say is file size isn't necessarily an indication of quality.

What is "digital zoom" as opposed to "optical zoom"? I assume the latter is what we do with the camera, BEFORE we take the photo, zooming in our out, & the former is something we do on our computer, when we get home, yes?

Nice one Mr Milligan Sir, I almost did it myself, but did not want to appear too pushy.

I hope as many as possible have a crack at this, it's very easy, even girlies should be able to cope, at a push, & if they struggle, I am always here for them.
