One of these days, I'm going to have a curry and night on the lash with Matt & Stu.
It'd be great, I could get squiffy in Nottingham and no one would dare pick on me.
If you were to time it correctly you might even get a game of pool too.
You would have to teach me how to play. I know I told you I was a whiz at it, but I was yanking your chain a little. I was strictly a snooker player and even that was 20 years ago.
You'd be more than welcome Tom. I think you'd enjoy one of the Thursday nights out. They're reasonably steady and never over step the mark.
Friday / Saturday might be a bit much but again you're very welcome to give it a try.
What's the typical Thursday night
modus operandi then Matt? (I seem to have come over all foreign tonight).
Well once a month or so we go out with Ralph for a few games of pool followed by a curry. Obviously there's a few beers in there but it's not many.
Thursdays without Ralph tend to follow a routine. We just follow our footsteps from the week before:
Starts at 8.30ish when Stu picks me up in a taxi. Get in to town at about 8.45
First stop is The Revolution at the cornerhouse complex:

Nowhere near as nice as the picture makes out. Bar staff are awful. Beer is far from great but we seem to stick with it come hell or high water. Guinness for Stu, Becks for me.
Next stop is The Orange Tree:

Nice bar, very good beer and generally very pleasant. Bar staff are really nice and there's the occasional tasty one for perving purposes. Guinness for Stu, Becks for me.
Third stop is Keogh's on Mansfield Road:

A really nice Irish bar, far nicer than the picture would suggest. Another decent pint in a pleasant atmosphere. Guinness for Stu, Fosters for me.
Fourth stop is just over the road from Keoghs which is The Peacock:

This is a very oldy worldy type pub that we only really go to because it's convenient. Very small in the bar side that we use and hardly ever anybody in. Nice place though and decent beer. Guinness for Stu and Fosters for me.
Final pub stop is The Rose of England:

This place tends to have a few more people in than the previous 2. Always a nice atmosphere and a reasonable pint. We always see the fish man here as well so Stu has some ridiculously over priced and under quality prawns. Guinness for Stu, Fosters for me and of course Prawns for Stu off this man:

Lastly we head to our favourite curry house, The Noor Jahan. Stu estimates that he's had over 600 curries there in the last 10 years or so. Mine is a more modest 150 ish.
Mr Kahn the owner and chef obviously knows Stu very well so we get really well looked after. We never order off the menu, he just makes us something different every week and 95% of the time it's brilliant. Kingfisher for Stu and water for me (I don't like lager with food).
This all seems a bit routine but it's a routine we like and if it ain't broke there's no need to fix it. There may be the occasional tweak but this is pretty much it every week.
Summary:
You'd like all of the bars apart from the Revolution. They're all very pleasant, it's just a steady night out really. 6 pints for Stu, 5 pints for me and a curry for us both.
Usually get home around half past midnight so not too bad for work in the morning and the low drink count means no hang over which is always handy.
As I said Tom you'd be more than welcome to come along one evening. All we'd have to change is the first bar and I think you'd like every place we went to.
