What an amazing thing that Carolione happened to be reading this Diary today, of all days.

Nice story, Miss C.

PS - What is "dogging"?

PPS - I have a Diary, too, but it does not stoop to the levels of this humdrum affair, assuming, of course, affairs can be humdrum, as mine has really really interesting photos of home made food & things.

Food is my god, as I think Redog noted when we met in Luton. I don't fancy a humdrum affair though, but thanks for asking.

What if I throw in my speciality, which is pineapple?

I've heard rumours, but I don't think you would be able to actually throw it in.

Is it just my sick and perverse mind or is the pineapple reference alluding to the rumour that eating it makes certain bodily fluids taste better?

(Sorry, but that was probably the best way I could put it )

Oh dear God.....

He can't help you now Wink

I'm off to Venice tomorrow night for a weekend break with my daughter and my mum.

The following saturday I'm off to Ibiza with my cougar-in-crime, a friend from school days who has just kicked her husband out.

Do you think I may have planned them the wrong way round?

Harrumph!

Anyway...

I attempted some birds in flight pics this morning for Milly to look at.

The light was poor. These shots were taken at about 5x zoom and then cropped at about 50 %. f/4.0 with a shutter speed of 1/1000. (As you can see, it wasn't fast enough).

Then the light improved a bit and I managed to get the shutter speed up to 1/1600.

Still not great, but you can see an improvement.

Photography is all about light. (Or how much of it falls on your sensor and for how long) Sometimes you need more light, and sometimes you need less, depending on the shot your after.

Heat features one of the best bank robbery scenes / shoot outs ,two things I've never understood when I've watched it
1) why try charging the police down ? There's 30+ police  n only 3 crooks out of the car ! Why not disappear down a side street ?
2) those m16 (?) guns empty a clip in less Than 3 seconds yet rarely do u ever see them reload

'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'

That's another film I didn't see until 30 years after it's release. When I did finally get to watch it, I was blown away.

Film 4 on Sky are doing a season of these iconic movies at the moment. 'Films for life' I think it's called. I'm deffo going to try to catch the ones I haven't seen before.

BTW- Have you ever seen anyone with as much presence as Jack Nicholson? (Cept Caroline Cougar perhaps).

Totally agree, it's an amazing film and he's an abs boss.

You're a bit young to have seen this one first time out. Raymondo. How did you come to catch it?

Talking of bank robberys, have you seen The Bank Job Tom ? excellent film. It's based on the 1971 Baker Street robbery, it's a must watch. Obv not in the league of the above which gets a 10/10 but it's definitely a 9.

I love how the blue tits close everything down just before they land. Their timing must be so precise.

I watched it with a friend (download off internet) then watched it again on my own, it's certainly a classic and up there with Shawshank as the greatest film ever. I think the film industry is in a dire state at the minute, don't remember the last time I was impressed or really even got into a film, The Hangover is the last film I really enjoyed but it's not like it was anything too original. So now if I can't think of a good film to watch I'll pick an actor I like and go through IMDB and watch some of there films, I'm a big Nicholson fan, I'd say him, Denzel and Di Caprio are my three favourite actors. Have you seen The Departed ? Also a great film. That's probably the last film I've really been impressed by. Also Inception was good and a new idea but a bit complex for me

Oh, mentioning Di Caprio Blood Diamond is also a very good film probably only an 8.5 but still, really enjoyed it. Both them films where six years ago though Sad

Someone could mentioning a film from more recent times that I'd agree was really good, maybe 2 or 3, but considering how many films are made a year that's not really a good ratio.
