I think I would enjoy caddying. How much does it pay?

For a caddy of a Pro a percentage of their winnings and all travelexpenses/board covered

Wiliams who was Woods' caddy for many years until they fell out, is a multi-millionaire from Caddying and a (fairly repugnant) personality in his own right

For most caddies of pros, hard work and feast or famine income..but of course you get to walk round some nice spots!

What about tips - would that come out of the caddy's share?  How would they work out the exchange rate?

Dunno, ask the Caddy Bag Mod.

How long will it tale them to play a round at the open today?

Probably 4 to 4 1/2 hours.

Do you play Kev?

I used to be a member of a Golf Club and play twice a week. Never got better than an 18 handicap though. I tried to teach Joo, she loves it but got frustrated and gave it up. Then we found poker, something we could do together so the golf suffered. Both take up a lot of your time, it's impossible to do both. I was paying £550 a year membership 6-7 years ago and was only playing a couple of times a month so I didn't renew. Now I play just a few society games during the year with friends and family. It really is a great game and every time I play I get the bug back.

Here's a few photo's, (not great quality) from 2004/5 Callum was 15 then. We used to take the boys here http://www.manorhousehotel.co.uk/ 2/3 times a year which is where the snaps were taken.

So what's the story with Tiger these days?

Is he sponsored?

Is he divorced?

Is he forgiven?

You can play as many rounds as you like once you've become a member. Some clubs have cheaper memberships which cover Monday to Friday only.

Good value then if you play regularly.

So what's the story with Tiger these days?

Is he sponsored? He still has a ton of sponsers. http://web.tigerwoods.com/sponsors/sponsors

Is he divorced? Yes. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2010/06/30/elin-nordegren-gets-m-custody-kids-exchange-silence-tiger-woods-divorce/

Is he forgiven? It's took me a while but I've decided to forgive him and move on.

Cheers Monda.

I'm the forgiving kind too. Within reason.

There but for the grace of God and all that.

Morning Thomas, was wonderful to see you yesterday. Hope you got home OK.

peleton

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peloton

£350,000 for this.....

http://www.needaproperty.com/sales/4239532

It is situated EXACTLY where we walked yesterday, on "Ash Island", which was that island on the Thames between East Molesey Cricket Club & Moseley Boat Club, where we chatted with that young man. (google Map "Ash Island East Molesey")

East Molesey Parakeets?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1311326/Native-birds-wild-at-Surreys-parakeets.html

http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/surrey/hi/people_and_places/nature/newsid_8286000/8286707.stm

How did they come to be so numerous in the area? The BBC noted this, but it looks mostly bollox to me.

One popular rumour is that a few birds, who presumably didn't want a career in the movies, fled from Shepperton Film Studios, during the making of the John Houston film "The African Queen", with Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn, in 1951.

Musician Jimi Hendrix has been blamed too! He allegedly released a pair of parakeets into the skies above Carnaby Street, in the 1960's.

Flocks which first appeared in the London/Thames Valley area in the 1980's, led to the theory that parakeet escapees had broken out of incoming cargo at Heathrow Airport, and made a winged dash to freedom, past UK customs!

But the likelihood is, they have been around for over a century, and their origins in the UK are far less glamorous, than the rumours suggest.

A pair were first recorded as having bred in the wild in 1855, and sightings have been steadily growing since the 1930's.

As a species, the birds don't tend to stray too far from where they hatched, so the likelihood is they are from more than one pair of domestic birds, who made it into the wild, probably by being released deliberately.

There is apparently a single resident Heron on Ash Island, too, it returns to it's nest there every evening at around 7pm, but only very wise & astute people have ever spotted it.

The Boat Club has 700 Members. Allegedly.

I thought it rather good top see the kids being so disciplined & careful to clean the boat after use, & that sort of military drill they use to lift it out of the water. Must be quite tricky to carry such a thing, unless they work as a team.

This may be true... but when population increases they need to spread out to find sufficient food. Also if the young only moved half a mile from where they hatched, over 40-50 years and 40-50 generations they might easily have spread 20+ miles.

There are plenty in the grounds of Windsor Castle as well.

Good point.

Windsor Castle is just a few miles down river, so that would be logical, yes.

As you may have guessed, Tom was quite surprised to see such a concentration of parakeets in such a small area, it must be quite unusual in the British Isles. They almost always seemed to be in pairs, too, & we were able to see them in the trees, cooing & screeching merrily.

Thanks Tony. That's saved me some virtual leg work.

Brilliant! First time I've proper lolled in days.

Pretty sure we walked about 15 miles, though. Settle for 12?

There is NO art in my house.

I meant to ask you to help me with my camera settings, bugger, next time, please.

PS - It WAS a Heron. It was. Be told. Glad you spotted the jibe though.
