I am so glad my subtle post  got this thread active again. It was a bit like that story of Mozart that they ran on Blue Peter in the 70's. To get him out of bed his mother would play part of a chord on the piano and he couldn't lie in bed with the chord unfinished. Welcome back.

After being inspired by this thread to get some bird feeders in my garden, it's been a success. Chaffinch,Greenfinch,Great tit,Starling,Dove,Sparrow and most surprising was a Jay. He came twice this morning but I wasn't quick enough with the camera. Camera now on standby on window sill. Just wondered how rare it is to see a Jay?

Hi Mr Ican.

I'm totally thrilled to hear that your doing this because of this thread. Encouraging birds to feed where you can watch, and perhaps even photograph them is so rewarding.

Jays are supposed to be fairly common, but I have to say I've seen very few in my lifetime, (and I've been actively looking).

I would love to see a photo of a Jay in your garden.

Please keep us updated.

Bird photos? Leave it to me, I'm on the case.

PS - Good news for detractors of my photos. My car got broken into on Monday, & they nicked my beloved camera, amongst other things.

I recommend this as a replacement.

Mr Dog, Will endeavour to do so as long as Mr Jay pays me the common courtesy of staying longer than 10 seconds. Also now added goldfinch.

Wasn't going to be so I didn't bother to qualify. However, plans have changed and I'm hoping to at least turn up for a bit of banter in the arvo.

I am also one of the merry men who Red got into the bird watching/photography game. Still love it, apart from the constant shit on the patio doors but that's a different story..

The missus is on hand at home with a camera incase something special turns up.

Ha, busted!

Well let us call it "unauthorised entry".

Truth is, there was no sign of forced entry, so it sort of suggests I left it unlocked, something I never ever do. I believe it auto-locks itself, too, if left unlocked.

I mean, what are you suggesting - that I FORGOT to lock it?

Think about it Matt, would that really be in character, for me to forget? Impossible.

Case resteded.
