I remember years ago in Derby having a differance of opinion with my good friend Dipak "the doc" Makawana when he mentioned that someone had taken a liberty with a common acquaintance. I concurred with him and said that they had taken advantage of the poor unfortunate.

No! he exclaimed they didn't take advantage, they took DISadvantage, and nothing that I could say would budge him from the absolute conviction that he was correct.

Dipak "the doc" Makawana

What a great name. He sounds like a Bond villain.

The 'bathroom', when said by Americans.

I placed my provisions on the checkout belt in my local Tesco yesterday, unloading the items from my basket & placing them on the belt, all in the correct order to "bag up".

At which point, the till computer froze, & would not work.

A Supervisor is summoned in an attempt to repair or reboot it. No joy.

Another supervisor is summoned - a supersupervisor I suppose. She is in a bad mood. So am I.

I have been waiting patiently for some 10 minutes now.  Not said a word, but I'm becoming a tad grumpy, as it is mid-afternoon.

"Would you like to use another checkout?" says Mrs Bolshy.

"I would not like to, no, but if you are saying I must use another checkout, then yes, it appears that I have no choice".

Mrs Bolshy retorts "that was what I said".

You get a much better class of girl in Waitrose, though the tinned chopped tomatoes are not so good.

Do you know how much at all?

Who on earth do so many people add "at all" to a standard question?

Does anyone know......at all?

people who use 'do you know what I mean?' to fill the gap between sentences, usually in the form of 'jaknowwatimean'

I was like, 'What?' and he was like, 'Yeah' and I was like, 'No way' and he was like, 'Way.'
