Sadly at the end of the prog they supplied the info that 1 rhino a day had been killed by poachers over the last year.  People are stupid *****.

Which ones? Those trying to make some money to feed their families or the ones that create the market by believing that rhino horn has magical properties?

I've been thinking about this for a while.  Are there people who need to kill rino to feed their families? I would have thought that someone with the skills to hunt rino would find it relatively easy to kill legal quarry for food.

If they are forced to do it,  it's difficult to judge them too harshly.

There is a spate of charity appeal adverts on telly at the moment.  Often there is one asking for donations to help starving children,  followed immediately by one asking us to save the tiger.  My daughter always goes into rant mode when this happens.  "How can they put those adverts on together? If I were there,  I'd kill the tiger and feed it to the children."

I missed the first episode of this but my daughter saw it and said it was fantastic.

The giraffe battle is amazing. Worth watching for that alone.

Very much this, <3 Attenborough.

Your daughters have their own mind, & think outside the box. The Mother must stamp her stock well.

Of all the Charity Adverts on TV at present, the one that seems to touch every sensitive spot for me, especially as we live in a society where we not only take clean & limitless fresh water for granted, but bitch at the cost, AND we moan when it rains (think of the irony in that....) is the series raising awareness of the water situation in many parts of Africa.

I know they are designed to attack our sympathy genes, but thousands of kids die daily because of lack of clean water. Blows the mind away.

Exsctly. Who wants to puss or crap into dirty water? Shocking.

I don´t think we are that far away from a position where grey water schemes will be a condition in certain types of planning permission. Truly crazy how much water we waste in the "civilised" world.

Well that would be a start, though we can't export water, so it would not help those without in faraway places.

It would be a big step forward though in reminding us of how fortunate we are, & how unfortunate others are.

They don't need to kill tigers or rhinos.  It's very similar to drug-dealing.  It's not legal, but it's lucrative and you can earn a lot more than you would working for a legitimate business for the same effort.
