You have to choose one of the options.

The job is on a production line packing of boxes. 8 hour days.

You can't retire until you're 70.

1. Work 3 days pw for £500.
2. Work 5 days pw for £1500
3. Work 6 days pw for 20,000
4. Work 7 days pw for 100,000.

for me option 1 no brainer

No Dan. I haven't been watching much tv lately.

Things are quite on the work front at this time of year, so I've been playing as much live cash poker as I can manage. (10 sessions in the last two weeks)

everyone *should* go for the last one if given the opportunity - ok you wouldn't have much leisure time but you could do a lot for other people/charities with the money.

I wondered if anyone would at least consider that option for that reason.

Blimey that's a tough one!

Personally I'd go for 2 I think. I couldn't live on £500 a week so that's out. I happily do 5 days a week now and £78k per year is excellent.

Option 3 is a tough one. £20k per week would obviously be nice but what would you do with it in your 1 day off?

How many days holiday do we get per year? I may be swayed to go for option 3 if it's around 25 days off per year + statutory days.

To be honest if we don't get any holidays I wouldn't take any of the options because they'd all suck.

Now we're getting to the nitty gritty Matt.

There are no holidays and you have to choose.

No holidays!!!!!

Can I work on a production line in Spain? If it's yes then I'll take option 1.

If it's no I need a bit more thinking time.

No. If you could choose your work location you could pick the Philippines or something. Spend 3 days working and 4 as a relative millionaire.

Seeing as it's until I'm 70 I'm going to go with option 1 then.

Knowing I've got the security of £500 a week up to then makes a lot of life decisions much simpler. I'm assuming this is index linked by the way?

I'd definitely need a few lifestyle changes in order to cope and the big house that I currently rattle round in with Ronnie would probably have to go. I think I could cope with that plus a 4 day weekend though much better than 3 times the cash and 2 days off.

Wouldn't even begin to consider options 3 and 4. They'd be like a living nightmare. All that money and no time in which to spend it Sad

Surely it's option 2 then Matt? Although the 8-hour days might be a shock to your system Wink

It would be option 2 if there was more I could achieve in my 2 days off. I like holidays and 4 days is long enough to get away and enjoy it.

2 days restricts how far you can go. I just couldn't cope with that for the next 33 years.

I went on a two-day residential course last week. My 'Hotel room' was in this stable.

Talk about a bus man's holiday!

Mrs Red & I are going out for out Valentines meal tonight so that we can avoid the crowded restaurants. (Not to mention the rip-off Valentines day prices.)

We fancy a nice steak, but our usual steak venue (The Man at Arms in Bitteswell) has been decidedly meh just lately.

Can anyone recommend a good steak pub in the area below. Somewhere nice, but not so expensive that Mrs Red moans about the cost all the way through the meal.
