Cash.
Little & often, dripping tap soon fills a bath, da de da.
And if, say.......you play the Deepie & don't make the money, you'll be pretty miffed with yourself for wasting not only £330, but potential lost income from the cash games.
That's what I thought. I just wanted someone else to say it.
Gonna play the satty for the MC though.

I think a bankroll to play £330 tournaments regularly is pretty substantial. Of course, you can play it having a punt as a one-off if you want - but there's the opportunity cost of not playing cash, and tournament variance means that even if you're head and shoulders above the other players in the comp it's likely you won't cash.
How about playing the live satellite tonight, and then playing the deepstack tomorrow if you win a seat?
Do you think the satellites are better value than the cash games Kin?
Depends what you mean by value. I don't think they're that tough, but I tend to play the online sats (that are definitely good value) so I can play cash at the club instead of a satellite. But that's because I can only make it there a few evenings a week.

So now my bank roll is healthy enough to allow me to play the deep stack on my own dime this weekend, but I can't decide if I should.
See, I think that were I to play cash over the deep stack weekend, there is a good chance that I might win 2 - 3 hundo rather than pulling up £330 for the buy in.
Plus - I haven't played a live tourney in ages so I'll be a bit ring rusty.
I could sell a % of myself, but that would make playing the tourney rather than the cash even less EV
Thoughts anyone?
Why not pass on the deepstack, play some more cash, and then play the live 50-seat mega-sat for the Monte-Carlo next Saturday?

I always try and quantify it in terms of hourly rate rather than this mysterious concept of "value".
For cash it's easy enough to estimate your hourly. For tournaments and satellites, much harder.
You have to predict the average amount of hours you'll be playing the tournament, and estimate your ROI.
Say you have a 50% ROI, you're EV would be say £150. (Less cos of reg fee but we'll ignore that for now). I reckon average time in it would be 5hours? So that's £30/hour. That'll be a fair amount higher than any players hourly on 50/1.
The satellite however, your hourly for a £20 rebuy will be quite a bit lower than your 50/1 hourly.
All just my opinion of course, that's just the way I look at these things.

I had a quick word with Greg, 'Junior' Hill, and congratulated him on his decision to change his alias to 'Junior Senior' in light of his advancing years.
To everyone's childish amusement, some random wag at the same table helpfully suggested that it was also time for me to change mine.... to Dead Dog.
I've arrived. A mention in the 4th best diary on blonde.
Thanks Greg.
A podium would have been nice, but I'm thrilled with 4th in such exalted company. It's the taking part that counts.
Would you like to announce the winners in reverse order?
Oh, and tell us where Tony finished.
Tony has a diary? I didn't know that! Might take a look although expect its all trains, black and white photos and misty eyed stories of his time as a golf club captain when he had his own hair

Actually, he does still have his own hair. He keeps it in a shoe box under his desk.

There is something to be said for a change of scenery and environment also. LifeEv (HappinessEv) pretty important too all things considered. Also, you pick up bits on bobs that improve your overall game by testing yourself in a different environment.

Can't argue with that. Happiness EV > any other type of EV.

Another entry for my popular 'Women in the News' series.
Really? Political correctness and feminism gone mad imo.
It's not even like he didn't compliment her on her professional attributes first.
If women are going to be offended when someone says they look nice, why do they make an effort to look nice?
If I were a woman I would be quite chuffed if someone said I looked nice. (Mind you, If I was a woman, I would be a right slag.)
Obama sorry over Kamala Harris 'good-looking' comment
President Barack Obama has apologised to the California attorney general for remarking on her appearance at a fundraising event on Thursday.
Mr Obama described Kamala Harris, a long-time friend, as "the best-looking attorney general in the country".
Ms Harris's spokesman said she strongly supported Mr Obama but would not say whether she had accepted his apology.
Critics have cited the remark as an example of the ongoing hurdles women face in the workplace.
Speaking after Ms Harris at the fundraising event in California on Thursday, Mr Obama said she was "brilliant and she is dedicated and she is tough, and she is exactly what you'd want in anybody who is administering the law and making sure that everybody is getting a fair shake".
Then he added: "She also happens to be by far the best-looking attorney general in the country... It's true. Come on. And she is a great friend and has just been a great supporter for many, many years."
On Friday, the White House said the president had spoken to the attorney general to apologise for the "distraction" created by his comments.
"He did not want in any way to diminish the attorney general's professional accomplishments and her capabilities," press secretary Jay Carney said.
He added that the president "fully recognises the challenge women continue to face in the workplace and that they should not be judged based on appearance".
Writers and bloggers have commented that although the president is a personal friend of Ms Harris and a strong supporter of women's rights, his remarks were inappropriate.
