Actually I won't be judging books by their cover now, as I have recently moved into the 21st century by acquiring a kindle.  My current method of choosing reading material is picking stuff that is free with good user ratings Smiley

Look at the paid stuff too Claire. There's loads of cheap titles that cost a bomb in paper form.

Start under non fiction.

I know this probably won't be your bag, but this is the kind on thing I'm on about.

£8.96 in paperback

61p on Kindle.

thanks Tom - will have a mooch round the shop.  I've currently got myself embroiled in a series of kids books that I didn't realise were kids books until I was part way through the first one (it was a free highly-rated jobbie).  Quite enjoying the easy read though Smiley

While I'm here, I had to fill out an online referencing form thing yesterday and among the huge list of occupations was 'Gypsy'.  This struck me as odd - is it something people would usually define as an occupation?

How are you enjoying Mr Tickle? I won't ruin the ending for you.

it's my favourite so far.  Mr Messy and Mr Bump are pretty incred too.

Was Gypsy spelled with am upper case G or was that your doing?

It was, but as it was a list everything was capitalised.  I'll see if I can grab a screenshot.

EDIT - screenshot:

Does that say 'hawker'?

Is costermonger there, too?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I noticed that too!
My Mam has my Grandad Percy's old Hawking licence, apparently there pretty rare documents, not many about as they only issued for the year so were probably thrown away after that.

Tom, had a software rep show me the below video yesterday, not sure what he was trying to tell me, but thought some of the facts and figures would tweak your curiosity.  (Disclaimer - I have not checked the validity of any of the claims).  Some quite eye opening claims.

Wow! That's just incredible. I'll have to watch it several times because while my mind is boggling over one fact I miss the next two.

I love this sort of thing, but I have to admit that it scares me.

a lot of it was just the statistics of big numbers though. Without looking it up I expect this stat is also related to the Indian demographic being skewed towards youth and the US one being skewed towards the elderly - but when you start with 4 times the population it's not that big a surprise, is it?

My surprise was more in relation to the percentage of honour students in India vs America taking into account the x4. But as ever your point is valid.

Praps it was  horse fly Kin. I didn't see it, but I do remember feeling it bite, swatting it and thinking "That's natural selection at work right there".
