Pretty sure it all started with the labradoodle that was invented by it's creator because someone needed a guide dog (labrador) that wouldn't affect someone who was allergic to pet hair (poodle).
I should have learned not to be surprised by the things that you know by now Matt.
That's one of the most poorly constructed sentences I've ever written. (Closely followed by this one)/

the programme last night stated that the original idea was to cross the intelligence of a poodle with the temperament of a lab for assistance for disabled people, as Matt says
quite how that has become so that some of last night's daft owners can make such odd decisions on which breeds suit their families i don't know!

Matt is right. (as usual)
A big part of the idea was to reduce the amount of hair, and more importantly 'dander' that the dog sheds because this is what triggers the reaction in people who are allergic.
I have to say it works great. Poppy sheds no hair at all and has no doggy smell even when she's wet. The downside is (There's always a downside) she needs a regular haircut.
I haven't watched the puppy programme yet. I'm half looking forward to it and half dreading it.

Similar case is the Dzo, which is a cross between a yak and a cow, largely created for his extra strength when lumping stuff up mountains.

Off to google the Dzo.

Glad you saw it Rich. "Daft owners" last night (&, as I saw it, daft "Dog Trainers" too) just about summed it up.
Tom should go into business as a Dog Trainer.
Can't wait for Tom to watch it......

Episode 2 of "6 Puppies" is on BBC 2 at 8pm this evening.
This picks up the stories as the 6 featured puppies reach adulthood.

This is a simple demo to show that dog training can, (and should) be drama free.
No improvement in production values I'm afraid.

I'm not in the slightest bit interested in selling my Honda Legend Coupe so long as it keeps passing it's MOT without my having to spend too much money as it still drives beautifully and I'm really rather attached to the old girl.
I believe there are now only ten of these coupes still on the road in the UK.
Just for a laugh I emailed "webuyanycar" for a quote, how much do you think they offered me?

I've seen one or two advertised at around the £1000 - £1200 mark Ralph, but if you sell it and buy something else you will have to spend many times more than that to get something with a similar spec.

Lol, It will weigh in for that much.
You would be surprised at how many people accept those silly offers because they can't be arsed to advertise it and sell it themselves.

Sorry Tom but you've got the dog training all wrong.
Sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, SIT, SIT, SIT, SIT, SIT,
SIT!!!!!
is actually the command you're looking for.

In all seriousness though Tom that is fantastic.
So many people make dog training difficult when it really doesn't need to be.
My favourite is people who say sit..... sit...... sit down...... sit down...... siiiiittttt (in a long drawn out voice)..... SIT DOWN (sharp voice)..... SIT! (now shouted)
Poor dog has just heard 5 different commands and hasn't got a clue what it's supposed to do.
So many people try to humanise their dogs by talking to them rather than just give simple commands. They just can't grasp that a word means nothing, it's the sound that they understand.
