I am hoping you're in agreement with this equation:
Danny Baker + Hour-long discussion about great music = television.
I just watched the R&B one again. It's just the most joyous, nerdy and unashamedly proud talk by four people about what they know and love.
Well owing to the fact that I'm thrilled that you should choose my diary to post this on at 02:12 on a Sunday morning, I will give your equation a shot and let you know if I come up with the same answer. I should warn you though, I may have some difficulty being totally objective.
When Danny Baker first came to my notice sometime in the 1980's I took an instant dislike to him and to be honest, I haven't really let him darken my metaphorical doorstep since. I've never actually bought a record and I don't know any of the guests on the show except that Freeman bloke, who I think I've seen in a film that I didn't like.
That said, I will watch it tonight. In the meanwhile, if you or anyone else wants to let me know why Danny Baker should not remain in my repository for fearful oiks, now is your chance.

If you've never bought a record, I've made a hideous misread and you can save yourself an hour. You won't enjoy it.

Oh my gawd! A valuable contributor and I've scared him off.
Wait, don't go. Let's talk about it anyway. I might even grow to like Danny Baker.. a bit.
Just for clarity, I'm a music lover and would have bought records if I could, but back in the day we had nowhere to store a record playing device and no electricity to power one.
I did listen to the wireless a lot though, and fitted 8 track cassette players in to lorries, with hilarious results.
Is the record buying part essential?

There's a series of three episodes discussing their favourite albums. This one is about R&B, so everything from Tamla Motown to Gil Scott Heron to Prince. There's a rock one and a pop one, too. All on Youtube.
Try five minutes of it and see how you go, but don't persevere if it doesn't appeal, because you'll have the complete picture of it from that.
No biggie either way.

Whilst on my recent holiday I read both Danny Baker's autobiographies. I think they were mentioned on the other fellas diary so I hinted about them for a Christmas prezzie. As a writer I expected he would make a good job but I couldn't put them down, they are brilliant. He is of our age Tom so a lot of growing up similarities.

There's another diary?
So let's get this straight. Tal has recommended his TV programme and you are recommending his autobiography?
Right. I'll watch at least some of Tal's prog and I'll download a sample of your book from Kindle. What are the titles and which one is first?

Evening Tom,
Pete has just finished watching Breaking Bad. He watched it after I mentioned that you said something along the lines of seriously envying anyone who hadn't yet watched it.
He thoroughly enjoyed it and asked me to say a big thank you and also to ask if there is anything else you would describe as unmissable ?
xx

I'll have a think but to be honest, Breaking Bad is a tough act to follow.
Has he seen Fargo season 1 ?

I struggled for ages to post pictures. It is actually quite difficult until you finally figure it out. I think the best way is to open a photobucket account (It's free and easy) and then let someone, (me if you like) walk you through the upload/posting process.
