For folks with bad experiences with ceramic coated pans, believe me, I totally ruined an Orgreenic pan and have since discovered why!. I use an almost new gas stove and had been setting the dial or 4, which is much too high for these type pans. I bought a new pan and now only use 3 (which brings the pan heat to actually only about 255 degrees Fahrenheit. Everything cooks beautifully including sausage, eggs, bacon, hamburgers and more, and I don't use anything in the pan, no butter, and certainly no spray-on of any kind (that will guarantee a ruined pan). Hope this helps folks.

Crikey Tom, you've lost some weight, well done.

How much do you weigh now?

I was just shy of 15st when I started and I'm a little over 13st now so not a huge weigh loss, but this time instead of just dieting I worked hard on my fitness and especially my upper body strength, which had gone into serious decline.

I have a little exercise routine going now. I walk two or three miles at a good pace every day and I do about half an hour of weight/resistance training 4 times a week. I can't be arsed with the gym though, it's such a palaver, a half hour session ends up costing me an hour and a half.

Not sure I'd agree that is not a huge loss - something like 15% of your body has disappeared.

I've become addicted to my daily walk, you mention "good pace", but I positively march at a right old clip. I get quite excited at the prospect of it, rather like a dog loves going for a walk.

Anyway, you look great on it, well done.

It's surprising how quickly exercise becomes a treat instead of a chore isn't it?

How are you doing on the fags, food & Rennies front?

Yes, I actually enjoy the walk, more especially when I get back home & get that special feeling of satisfaction that only comes from testing ourselves. I've never done any exercise at all, so I'm a late starter. Feels good. I do it every single day, never miss.

Fags? From around 30 per day to 10 a day, don't smoke in the car, at work, or when chilling in front of the TV - only when tip-tapping on the computer at home.

Food - no problem on that front, once my head is in the right place, nothing deters me, & there's no "cheat days". I have exactly the same food every single day, & I look forward to it immensely & thoroughly relish meal times. Rennies? What they? I have to attend a function, which includes a meal, this weekend, so that will do my head in, but I'll manage fine.

UKPC was a problem, I was up there 6 days straight, & the days were long, 18 hours per day all told (including collateral tasks such as writing Content), & I could not prepare or cook my normal fayre. All around me people were consuming magnificent looking fish & chips & meat pies, & I was existing on slices of cold chicken breast, Ryvita, & grapes. But it felt good to resist. I did decide to have a daily brekkie whilst there though - Alpen, Weetabix, & a low fat yogy.

Lattes have been kicked into touch completely, not had one since January 16th. Instead, I'm drinking copious amounts of tea, too much really, & I might have to curtail that a little. Drinking plenty of iced sparkling water, too. I just add half of a real lemon to a jug of it, to give it a bit of tang.

Weight is dropping slowly, down from 14-13 to 13-5, since January 16th. If I could get into the upper twelves, maybe 12-10 or similar, that's as good as I dare hope.

And this time it's permanent, I won't be reverting - ever* - back to Lattes, roasties & sticky buns.

* "Ever" is defined until Until the end of May.

You're such a hero* when you make your mind up to do something. You have this amazing ability to remain steadfast no matter how severe the temptation. Actually, I think you enjoy resisting the temptation in a weird, masochistic kind of way.

I would be interested to see what would happen if you decided there was no cut-off point, that you would just keep going and see where it took you.

Stubborn old bastard*

That's the key.

I keep an empty Costa cup in the cup holder in the car, and another indoors, just so I can look at them every day & say "**** you".

Stubborn, yes. To the point of stupidity at times, but I can't help it. Some aspects of stubborn-ness are good.

Question for Tom, serious this time.

Driving up & down through the countryside, passing countless fields in which several horses are peacefully grazing, I often see some of the horses wearing rugs, or tarpaulin things, presumably to protect them from the winter weather.

Why is this necessary? Horses in the wild don't have these.

Surely the horses would sweat, under the rugs, which will often be wet, & that will cause its own problems?
