You’re welcome.

I mentioned it because it is the sort of thing that I would do.

Things that broke today.....

I put the lighting socket for the trailer into the socket on the tow bar and the right hand side indicator wasn't working, even though the beep beep buzzer said it was.

It wasn't anything simple like a fuse, a blown bulb or a bad contact, so I plugged a lighting board in so that I could see what was happening and started dismantling things.

I hate doing electrics. Unless it's the most basic of tasks, I'm crap at it.

I traced the cable back from the socket and discovered that it had been wired into the back of the rear offside light cluster.

This is where I get lost. Look at all those scary wires. So many different colours..

What goes where and why......

I twiddled around, pulling and tapping things like someone who has no idea what he's doing would, and I stumbled across this.

It's the beep beep buzzer, and judging by the date on it it was put there by the man who fitted the towbar.

This was a stroke of luck. The beep beep buzzer is supposed to beep if the indicators on your trailer are working properly, this one was beeping when the indicators were not working.

It beeped with fork tongue and I suspected it was something to do with my problem.

Using a little screwdriver I managed to pry the beep beep buzzer open and straight away I could see that one of the little component things had burned out.

See the bloom on the back of the circuit board?

Went to RAE's and bought a replacement beep beep buzzer for a very reasonable price.

This job was going suspiciously well.

I needn't have worried. It all went pear-shaped when I got home.

Lol. I didn't use them, the tow bar fitter did.

For the uninitiated, these are Scotch locks.

Apparently, Ade doesn't like them.

Ha yes i see you didnt fit them  Smiley
Trouble is they cut thru the wire as you use them, obvs making wire thinner, and they let water in like no tomorrow .

Looks like you're on good company Ade.

Mind you, Scotch locks have been going for over 60 years and have remained virtually unchanged.

They still sell in their billions.

So Tom, did you ever get your new beep beep buzzer installed and did it cure your problem?
