I was out with the dog today, inclement weather not withstanding, and I met a man who called me a " Fellow
randonneur
".
I had to look the French bit up.

No I was walking Ralph. I think I got the spelling wrong.
randonner
verb
Faire de la randonnée.
randonner → hike; trek;
randonner
verb
to take a long walk for pleasure or exercise
hike; → partir en randonnée; randonner;

That's a new one on me too despite my "O" level in French.

Not quite sure of the details, but at least 25 other countries voted, & the UK never received a single vote. Music choice is wholly subjective, & yet not one person on one jury thought our song was worthy of a vote.
This can't just be about a naff song in a cheesy contest - we are clearly much disliked by our European neighbours. (It's the 2nd straight time we have finished stone last).
When & why did the UK become so universally - or at least Euro-universally - disliked?

A few logic leaps there Tikay.
The song seems bloody awful, why watch that when Glastonbury was free?

When I heard the song last week I thought, OMG, what a load of crap, is that the best we can come up with?
O a fair score imo.

Bit harsh, Tom, did you not see the jammed wheel-nut?

When asked what his songs were about, in a 1966 interview with Playboy magazine, Dylan quipped: "Some are about four minutes, some are about five, and some, believe it or not, are about eleven or twelve."

It's been fine here for the last two hours.
The weather forecast says it might stay fine for the rest of the afternoon.
My grass hasn't been cut for so long it's like a jungle.
Cover me, I'm going in...

I can relate to this. My front lawn is looking a mess right now.
I have been following the weather, and have been reluctant to plant anything as there seems to have been bordeline frost every week since March.
A couple of days ago I planted some fragile looking cabbages and onions out in the garden. Yesterday we got marble size hail. Hopefully it will have got all the bugs that were eyeing up the cabbages.
good luck

Well I got it cut but it was tough going. The poor old mower whined pitifully and shuddered like a man in an ague.
