Not sure I've can recall Cos ever posting photos on blonde, pardon me butting in, but these are on his Twitter, so I hope he won't mind me posting them;

no problem at all!

I used to post a lot of pics of various different things but in recent years whenever I've tried to post some I've had some technical issue?

Is there an easy way to post direct from my phone?

The dogs are handsome, but that guy in the third pic...

I'm sure there is, but better to ask Tom, I still take my photos to Boots to get them developed.

This is pretty good for android. I don't know if they do an iPhone version.

Some very interesting stuff. I will reply as soon as I get a minute. (Really busy atm and to make matters worse Mrs Red is under the weather so I've been promoted to HC & BW.)

Sorry to be all tikayesque but I'm wading through treacle here .

I know very little about CAS dogs so I went Googling.

What an impressive resume this is.

If you could only eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

After much dithering between Fry-ups, steak pudding and chips, Sunday roast etc I decided I had to do the sensible thing and have this.

https://www.businessinsider.com/scientists-create-the-healthiest-meal-ever-2012-6?r=US&IR=T

ok now let's assume every meal is of the same nutrional value. What are you choosing and what is your favourite non-British meal?

So tough to choose just one. (Almost went for beef stew with suet dumplings)

Two sausage, two eggs sunny side up, two slices of bread with real butter, a mug of proper tea and a slightly over-done treacle sponge with lashings of custard.

Foreign meal - Probably crispy sesame chicken with sticky sauce.

I got on well with the transport manager at Ewals office in Colchester and we came to an agreement that he would ensure i got home on a friday (hated working saturdays) and in return i would be his go to guy ,  if a job needed doing
or something had to be at its destination at a certain time i was his man...i was not averse to bending the driving laws.

We mostly transported automotive parts, but we also did a lot of white goods (one such load shifted as we went round a roundabout at Felixstowe which resulted in me getting a new motor a DAF 95XF , every cloud....)

Our return loads included hauling clay from Cornwall , always a hard old slog up the M5.

Did loads of interesting jobs , delivering to Exhibition centres , Natural History Museum.

Spent over ten years pulling Cargo Care trailers covering over a million miles, then one Sunday evening i went to pick up my lorry but i was unable to put the key in the lock.I just broke down.I guess i had burned myself out and was having a breakdown.

Gave up the driving then (HGVs anyway), this would be about 2008.

So many memories , i started to ramble a bit so i have shortened this but you should find the answers to your questions.

Boo thanks for these posts, really really enjoyed them.

'then one Sunday evening i went to pick up my lorry but i was unable to put the key in the lock.I just broke down.I guess i had burned myself out and was having a breakdown.'

If this is something you don't want to elaborate on or talk about, no worries. I found it incredibly intriguing and being the nosey bastard that I am I'd like to ask a few questions. Really totally understand though if you want to say no more at all.

Was their any build up or was it just this one day and from there everything happened?

What Cos said.

Also, there are several types of scary.

There's the sudden loud noise "Jesus H Christ, I just almost shit myself" scary. (Terrifying but too brief to worry about)

Here's a quick example of this type of scary.

Actually this may not be such a quick example so you will have to excuse the superfluous detail, I'm in a rambly mood.

Years ago I used buy used automotive parts for export. I didn't export the parts myself, it worked like this.

A firm in Warrington used to give out a list of parts that they were buying that week, the list would typically consist of about 200 different items - engines, gearboxes, starters, dynamos, alternators, clutch & pressure plates, steering racks, shock absorbers etc etc... Some of these items were evergreen, always on the list, always in demand hence always difficult to find. Some items were new or for one week only, these were the orders that we wanted.

Each part was accompanied by a part number if available and a brief description.

There was often also some "Deal breaker" info. The, "If it doesn't have this, it's the wrong part" info.

Sometimes a part worth say, £150 was very similar to a part worth virtually nothing, so you had to be very careful what you bought. Example - Ford Escort engines were re-designed in 1967 to have a crossflow head, (Extra internal channels for water to flow through) The crossflow head looked exactly the same as the pre crossflow head except it had a half inch bulge near the thermostat housing.

This information was invaluable to us, the buyers, who used to roam around the nation's scrap-yards trying to find, identify and purchase this stuff.

It was invaluable too in the sense that with the right information, an unscrupulous person might say, be able to fabricate a bulge, or a flange, or a fitting of some kind to miraculously turn a wrong part into a right one. (Not that I ever did, swelp me God)

Anyway... Me and my brother Tracy were both in doing the same job so to save stepping on each other's toes we divided the country up into North and South. I had everything from Leicester up and he had everything down.

Some of the items on the list were evergreen, always in demand hence always difficult to find. Some items were new or for one week only, these were the orders that we wanted but Mr Morgan, the head honcho in Warrington had his favourites amongst us suppliers and the favourites got the special orders.

You got to be a favourite by taking the time to find the non-profitable stuff that made Mr Morgan's life easy. He might ask for two dozen Mini/Austin rocker covers to replace damaged ones on engines he had bought. At 50p each they weren't worth the effort of taking them off but they pleased Mr Morgan and they often led to you being given a special order.

Tracy and I, both regular recipients of one-off "Special" orders were given a one week opportunity to supply as many Eaton Twin-speed back axles as we could. It was a great order because Eaton twin-speeds were reasonably plentiful in commercial vehicle breakers yards, with perhaps one or two in each. We could buy them for around £30 each and we were selling them for between £90 and £120. This was around 1985 so even after exes we are talking very good money.

The Deal breaker" identification on the Eaton Twin-speeds was the nut that held the prop-shaft flange on to the differential. The nut on the correct axle was twice the size of the one on the wrong axle and so everyone referred to them as "Big nut" axles

As was occasionally the way, Tracy and I decided to partner up and work all hours for the week. It made sense because commercial breakers are well scattered across the country and we could take turns driving and sleeping.

One day towards the end of our Eaton Twin-speed week, we were in a breakers yard in Oxford. We had purchased and loaded two or three axles and now the owner, an extraordinarily overweight Geordie with an enormous belly and a bald head the size of a microwave oven was showing us around his collection of vintage lorries.

Something happened. At first I didn't know what it was. One minute I was looking at vintage trucks, the next I was 100 yards away behind a parked car, heart going like a trip-hammer and deaf save for a constant ringing in my ears.

Slowly my senses returned and I realised that there had been an explosion. I raced back to find Tracy approaching me from 100 yards in the opposite direction.

We went back to where the lorries were and after a quick look around discovered that a vintage 1000 x 20 tyre on an old Foden had given up the ghost and burst into a thousand pieces with a noise like the end of the world. Tracy and I had both instinctively legged it.

"Where's he gone then?" Tracy asked.

"Where's who gone? I replied in a trembling voice, still quite badly shaken.

"Him" Tracy said, "Big Nut"

We found him hanging on to the tailgate of a truck, trying to gather his wits. I wanted to ask him if he was OK but I was laughing so hard at Tracy's quip I couldn't speak.

I don't know why I found it so funny, perhaps I was a bit hysterical. I laughed all the way home and intermittently throughout the night. I'm still laughing about now as I write, almost 40 years later.

I told you I was in a rambly mood.

I can just imagine you all reading this with totally dead-pan faces, shaking your heads and thinking, that's it, he's finally cracked.

Hey Cos , with hindsight i think it was just a combination of things building up, i had just split up with my Fiancee , my mother had just had a heart attack , my father had been diagnosed with Cancer , my daughter and i were going through a rough patch.

Also i was tired , physically and mentally. I had only had about five weeks holiday over the course of the previous five years , and had even worked a Christmas Day.

This Sunday evening , the last thing in the world i wanted to do was climb into my wagon and drive, i just could not do it.

I used to think that my problems were unique but scratch beneath the surface and over the course of a lifetime we all have much the same shit to deal with.

In the past if I had to deal with someone who was glum faced or off hand I used to think, what a miserable so-and-so, but now I try to remember that I have no idea what they might be going through and I try to cut them some slack.

I much prefer on the fire toast to dried up stick-like toaster toast, the problem is, these days I don't have a fire to toast on.

So, I made myself a cooker top toaster.

Before you mock let me point out that slightly burned is my preference and the bread is misshapen because it was squashed in the freezer.

Also, I just dirtied the cooker. (Mrs Red would kill me if anyone thought she left it like that)

Anyway, the toast was de-licious.

The pics are great BTW.

I love the expression on the black dog's face in pic #1. I wouldn't fancy to intimidate him.

It's funny how looks can be deceiving. The white one is actually the one you wouldn't want to try and intimidate. He is absolutely fearless and huge in stature and strength. When I get deliveries or strangers arrive at the house the Cane Corso (black one) will often back away with caution and check out the scene first whereas the Central Asian will charge at the door and bark fiercely. Once he does so, the Cane Corso will follow. If the front gate door is opened and someone comes in with any member of the house they are always friendly and welcoming but no-one should come in alone.

Bangkok is a city full of condominiums so when I moved to a house I was still travelling a bit to and from Macau and it was in my plans to continue doing so. My wife felt a little unsettled staying at the house without me and even though in Bangkok there is very very very little burglary compared to the UK, I still didn't want to take anything for granted. It was also an excuse for me to get a big dog that I had always wanted. Throughout my childhood my mum had always said no to any requests of a dog.

I went to place that imports big dogs, initially to get an English bullmastiff. I saw every large dog breed from Russian Shepherds to Great Danes and I had never interacted or seen a Central Asian shepherd before. I loved how they looked and what I was told about them but I also met a cane corso with a head like a football and loved how he was just so happy to sit and chill with me. I called the wife and asked 'I know we talked only about 1 dog but I've seen two here that I love and i just cant decide, can I get both pleasssse?'

'NO' *hangs up*

So while I'm deliberating she calls me back, fairly quickly too. Bit of background is that Thais are very very pro-Cosmetic surgeries. There are clinics for every sort of beauty enhancement you can imagine all over Bangkok and I'm not a fan of such things. I'd given here similar 'No' answers in the past.  She knew she had me in cheque mate though.

'I will let you get both dogs if you let me get my eyes done'.

'For fucks sake. I hate you.deal. Very well played'.

So a few weeks later I came home with these two pups and from day 1 it was clear Bear was the alpha. I learnt very fast after a few incidents where Bear attacked Chucko. The first one was where I'd bought them identical toys and gave one to each.

I have to be very careful when I'm walking them because they are extremely protective and dont like other male dogs. They are both great with people but because they're so big, I get really mixed reactions from people. A lot of people cross the road or walk very wide around them. If I'm walking them 1 by 1 I will get stopped often by people wanting pictures of the white one or to pet him. He's called Bear because I got him as a Pup and at 8 weeks old he already looked like a mini polar bear. At 8 weeks he was 18kg and his paws were huge. They are both great with people as I've socialised them a ton since a very early age and all my free time away from kids etc is spent at the local dog park. It's probably my favourite place to be in Bangkok.

No doubt the Cane Corso is stronger, he is just a dense ball of muscle.

They've done all sorts of obedience training, scent classes etc. They are taken to play with other dogs multiple times per week and they have swimming sessions twice a week. They cost me a fucking fortune.

I take them to the dog park near my house more than any other dogs are taken there. I love it as much as they do. They were both so good with dogs from day 1 that I never had a single issue in the park. I would regularly ask the staff if it was ok if i popped across the road to grab a quick coffee or bring one back and they were always happy to keep an eye for me. This one time I left the park and I was 30 yards away when I heard screaming and I ran back to the park and hopped over the fence. The Cane Corso had a Frenchie in his mouth and he was being swung from side to side. As soon as I grabbed him he released and i pulled him away. He was scared and shaking. He was clearly unhappy rather than angry. fortunately the other dog had just a small skin puncture and no bone or organ damage and it was lucky i was on it so fast. I apologised profusely to the other owner and explained how it had never happened before and was totally out of character. There is also a vet on site at this complex and I offered to pay for any costs. I also quickly asked the owner of the dog park to review the footage of the incident and I was pretty angry to see the other dog still on his lead jumping in the face of chucko. Chucko is backing away for about 5 metres until he has nowhere to go and the owner is laughing. He is finding it humorous that his little frenchie is making this giant dog back up, that is until Chucko retalliates and  However one time a little Frenchie was with his owner and the owner thought it was hilarious that his frenchie was snapping at Chucko, who was backing away and backing away until he reached a corner. A few days later I took him back to the dog park and he lunged at another dog straight away. He didnt make any contact as I could see his body language wasn't right and so stayed right by him. He is extremely obedient with me. I took him out and a few weeks later had him neutered. I think he was around 18 months old at this point. However, since the neutering this distruct of certain breeds (frenchies, short nosed dogs, huskies, big alpha males) has meant I can't socialise him outside his pack or he gets jittery around dogs that show a hint of aggression and will just attack where Bear will warn or only do it if it's necessary.
