Sigh....

Filled my new hedge trimmer with petrol this morning and as per yesterday it ran straight out again.

Obviously my PTFE repair  has failed, probably disintegrated over night.

Removed the tank again but the PTFE tape doesn't look like it disintegrated to me.

Obviously something else has gone tits up. What are the chances of two different bits of the fuel supply system failing one day apart after 25 years?

Watched an interesting program on the Discovery channel Tom, proberly available on catch up.
Expedition Unknown Season 7 Episodes 16,17.

Opening several Egyptian tombs, the decorations inside them are amazing.

The child inside me giggles everytime Dr Megahed is mentioned.

I give the fuel pipes a tug and one comes loose in my hand. I examine the end and from the look of the jagged end it's plain that it has snapped off.

On further investigation I can see that the break is really close to the little brass spigot that connects it to the carburettor.  Only about 1/4in has broken off, perhaps it's still long enough to reach if I can access it with my sausage fingers...

The Egyptians were incredibly advanced back then Boo, probably on par with where Dereham is now.

20 odd years ago I planted some trees and shrubs to screen my caravans and to give a little privacy, everything flourished and I had to start cutting things back every year.

About 15 years ago whilst giving a laurel a particularly heavy prune I exposed a scrawny little conifer that had become swamped and hidden by the laurel's broad leaves and thick branches.
How it survived there in the dark with the laurel sucking up all the nutrients from the ground I'll never know, but there it was, with its spindly little trunk and single green frond, no bigger than a sparrow's feather.

"The next time I cut this hedge it will be dead" I thought, but the next year and the year after that there he was, no bigger or greener, but still desperately clinging to life.

Now I know it sounds daft, but I I felt sorry for him, so I cut a silly chunk out of the laurel so that he could have some light.

Today he's miles ahead of where he was back then. He probably weighs in at about a pound now, so he's still a long way behind his half-ton brothers who were planted at the same time.

His spot is at the back of the hedge. The rest of the family  don't know about him, I didn't tell them because they already think I'm an idiot. (I'm sure you lot think I'm an idiot too but I don't have to live with you).

According to Wiki, probably not.

Bonsai need direct sunlight, from which they make their food. A lack of direct sun will damage them, causing weak foliage and other problems. They like to receive 5-6 hours of sunlight daily, whether inside or outside.

Need to remove the air filter and choke assembly to have a chance of accessing the bit where the pipe has to go.

Note to self, don't let any of the 25 years worth of accumulated gunge fall into the carburettor.

Managed to push the end of the broken pipe on to the spigot using a pair of snipe-nosed pliers and Ta Daaa!

Back to where I was yesterday.

There has been some amazing inventions over the last few years, self driving cars, re usable space rockets, Google reverse image search...

But this has got to be right up there.

It looks as though you might have more than 14 clubs in that golf bag.

You will incur penalty shots for each hole that you play with too many clubs...
