I am a big fan of WW2 stuff , was fascinated by the sheer size of this bunker.

Some really interesting videos and future places to visit.

Thought you might enjoy it Tom.

Right up my street. Thanks Boo.

Some fascinating stuff on that channel,so much that i didn't know.
My Grandfather was one of the Commando's on Sword beach so it was interesting to view the German defensive positions from the beach to Caen.

WWII must have spawned more incredible true stories than any event in history. From the front line to the war rooms to the folks at home..

On land, at sea, in the air..

The code breakers

Espionage

The POWs

The Blitz

The Holocaust

The invasion

The list is endless.

Did your Grandad make it back Boo?

Yes he made it back safely.
My other Grandfather was killed in the Italy Campaign    https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/2378078/robert-charles-harper/

That's very poignant Boo. I for one am very grateful to him.

I asked my grandad on my mothers side about his war service and he said, "I fought like a lion but they still made me enlist."

It bothers me that it isn't underground, it should be the grand observation tower?  Guess this is just a translation thing, and the word was translated from some French word for concrete military structure?  Don't know.   Love his Americanisms, bless his cotton socks.

In my early twenties i had an interview for a job 15 miles from home.
I was asked how i would be able to travel to work in the case of bad weather or car trouble.
I stated that my Grandparents lived a couple of hundred yards away and i would be able to stay with them.

I was asked who my Grandfather was,and upon hearing his name ,my interviewer smiled and told me the job was mine.

Turns out they served together in the Commando's.

Mrs Red asked me why I crunch boiled sweets.

I had to think about it and my reasoning doesn't make sense.

I don't WANT to crunch them, I want to suck them but I can't resist trying to get a little more flavour out by squeezing them with my teeth.

These are my faves but they seem to have changed the formula lately.

They used to just stick to your teeth when you tried to bite them but now they shatter.

Those are a lovely sweet, do you suck it until the last thin sliver is flexible enough to craft into a tube with the mere use of tongue and lips ?

Just read further up and apparently you crunch, you don't know what you're missing. Had to buy Murray Mints in a garage the other day for a trip to York - £3.15, nearly cried and not a patch on Tesco mintoes

Pretty shocking a bag of sweets has that many calories, would br guessing half that.

Talking of foods that have more calories than you think.  I was orderinf from a chopstix at a service station the other day.  There was a calorie sign up and how the hell does medium egg fried rice have over 500 calories even before you add the topping?  It isn't even that nice.
