Is it me, or does everyone of pensionable age think like this?


A little over 20 years ago I bought a used car and in the boot I found a bag of assorted cable-ties, including a sealed 100 pack of heavy duty ones.

The heavy duty ones were especially useful and over the years I used them to secure loads of things, a couple here, half a dozen there, until yesterday when, halfway through a job, they ran out.

New ones cost £5 for 20 or £15 for 100.

If I buy the £5 pack and die before 5 years have elapsed, I will have made a saving, same with pack two, but if I make 11 years I'm screwed.

Yeah, I get that, but it affects me in different ways. I still like a bet, but I'm reluctant to do "season-long" bets, I prefer to do short-term stuff, you know, just in case. I broke the rule last year & had a big horse racing bet with a 9 month gestation & I got a bonus, as I won twice - the bet came in, (God bless Chompy) & I survived to see it paid. Always an upside, see?

I get annoyed when what appeared to be a series turns out to be a series of series with no indication when it will end or even when the next episodes will air. I also get rather miffed that I won't find out how the world ends.

iplayer has for years inserted unwanted trailers that can be stopped by pressing a "skip trailer" button. Now they have introduced a "restart program" button. Unfortunately years of pressing the "skip trailer" button have Pavlov's dogged me, so I'm now pressing the "restart program" button as soon as I see it. bastards

I finally convinced Mrs Red that she will never find out how Eastenders ends.

Hi Red,  I saw a "hack" to use cable ties to clean out bath plug holes by making diagonal cuts in them and then hooking out hair and gunk with them - worth considering if youre feeling under the weather and stocks are still high

I use a drain snake on me plughole.
