While we're on the subject of being alone, here's a little trick I learned in the special forces for shaving your neck after cutting your own hair.

Perfect for when you have no oppo in your basha.

Jeepers that made me shudder. My mum used to cut my fringe by putting sellotape across it to mark the cutting line. Always straight. Always turned out at an angle. Always had the p taken out of me at school for a few days.

Smoked bacon broth done in the electric pressure cooker/slow cooker.

Is that part of your fryer? I saw a Ninja the other week that baked, fried, roasted, dehydrated and allsorts, about 10 different things. Amazing technology.

No, that's a separate bit of kit.

We had the same stainless steel pressure cooker since we got married. It would have lasted for ever but about once every 5 years the gasket needed replacing. Every time they became harder to find and more expensive so last year we sent it to the scrap yard and bought an electric one.
We were suspicious of it at first, no hissing and spitting,  it was quiet.... too quiet....

But we got used to it and now we think it's fabulous.

This is it. Only about fifty-odd quid on Amazon.

Bet it doesn't last 46 years though.

Our pressure cooker lasted from our marriage in 1977 to the day we switched to an induction hob. To be fair it would have lasted longer had we stuck with a more traditional hob.

PS - thank for the recommend on the chips. I’ll give them a go although I haven’t yet found a frozen chip that is anything more than barely acceptable.

Oh God! The sense of responsibility is overwhelming.

Iceland do better ones, I can't remember what they're called, I'll have to wait until Mrs Red gets back. (I could ask when she rings but it doesn't seem a fitting subject for an international phone call)

We use the Adi ones because we shop there and Iceland is the other side of town.

OK. I'm doing the hedges again and I've just been attacked by a huge dark coloured wasp that seemed determined to sting my face.

I jumped off the ladder and ran around waving my arms and screaming, (As per my special forces training) but it wouldn't go away.

"Oh my God" I thought, "It's one of those Asian hornets that was on the news"

Eventually I calmed down enough to realise it was just a privet leaf attached to the peak of my cap by a strand of spider Web.

Sigh...
Will I ever finish this job?

Now the hedge trimmer is playing up. It will start and run but it won't rev up.

I wouldn't mind but I bought it brand new. (Admittedly that was in 1997 but that's not the point).

Ah well, YouTube videos to the rescue.

No need to thank me.
