ARRGGGGGH!

I think I've lost the ability to relax.

It's Sunday morning, I have nothing pressing to do, (Well I have, but I'm not doing it)

I'm sitting here watching the snooker, but I'm also playing intermittent Spin and Go's on Stars. (I have a great little personal challenge going, ask me about it if you want to have a go, you will need £10 and iron discipline. Have to follow strict rules regarding the stakes you can play at. The object is to beat your own PB. I peaked at £109 and troughed at £2.25)

Anyway, I'm watching snooker, playing poker, conversing with the girls on Whatsapp, microwaving some porridge and reading the news. I'm also browsing on blonde, (Mostly old stuff, there isn't much new stuff).

The point is, I'm supposed to be relaxing but I seem to have become a stimulation junkie and I need several things going on at once to satisfy me. I think I'm enjoying myself but my teeth are clenched.

Snooker shot replays in slow motion, WTF is that all about? A huge part of a snooker shot is in the pace. Will he run far enough, or too far, to get position for example? All we can see is the cue ball trundling ever so slowly across the baize. It might stop next roll or go the length of the table.

There was an in off yesterday where the ball teetered over the pocket for a second before dropping, the slo mo showed it sitting there motionless for about 7 seconds.

You would think that poker players would be the exceptions to that rule. I only got a few reads on people, mostly verbal or timing, I think because I was concentrating on trying not to give info.

Like the pics, just wish I could find a way to love winter as it's half the year in my part of the world.

Great bit of tackle for bird song recognition, especially this time of the year

Morning Mr Trevor.

Funnily enough, I was using Merlin last night.

I played Mickleover with three pals. It's a heavily wooded course with some lovely mature trees & bushery. We had a 10 minute wait on one tee whilst we let a speedy 2 ball through, & this was at about 7pm on THE most beautiful sunny spring evening. The birdsong was in full flow so I opened Merlin up & it snap identified 4 different varieties within seconds. Nothing exotic - Robins, Blackbirds, a Song Thrush & a chaffinch - but it gave me a real kick to be able to know what they were.

As a golfing experience it was a disaster - that's another story - but it was SUCH a perfect evening weather-wise, with glorious birdsong right across the course.

Hope to see you soon Trevor, it's been way too long since we had a knock. Mr Giblin (JAKALLY) invited me for a round a week or two ago & we drove down to Stoke Rochford GC on the A1 south of Grantham. Wow, it was SO lovely. I play with Moulty's crew at Breadsall Priory (Moorland) regularly) & yesterday I played with another crew - "JAC" & co - at Mickleover.

Winter can be wonderful if you make it so Dave. My dad used to say, "There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing".

When I was younger, in fact up to the age of 50 or so, I didn't possess things like hats, gloves, fleeces etc, I just used to wear much the same stuff winter and summer. These days I have thermal underwear, Gortex boots, waterproof jackets  the lot.

Sometimes I wait until we're having one if those named storms and I get dressed warm and take the dog for a walk on croft Hill. The rain pelts your face and the wind rips the breath from your lungs. Its fabulous.
