fire and brimstone

A bit of erosion beside a path shows the process of an explosive volcanic eruption quite neatly. The black layer has mostly small rocks which would have been ejected into the air when nearly molten. There are a few larger chunks in amongst them. Above that, what looks like sand is actually volcanic dust (the resulting rock is called "tuff"). Then above the tuff the small rocks start coming down again.

Geology is fascinating Dave. I once signed up for a geology walk along the coast at Bude in Cornwall. On the day I was the only one who turned up, so I had 3 hours of one to one tuition from a really great and enthusiastic professor.

The three main types of rock were igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic so I did learn something.

"KENDALL" almost killed a crow with a drive today.

Sadly I killed a bird with a drive down at Devon.(Not a birdie joke).

Took a driver off the tee and caught it on the heel sending it low, just as a swallow swooped in to the path of the ball killing it instantly.  Sad  Bloody ball ended up behind a bush too.

The Northern Hemisphere is slowly tilting back towards the sun.

The days are growing fractionally, but inexorably longer and warmer.

The birds are singing with a little more enthusiasm.

I've cut the grass once, and it's ready for cutting again.

It's coming....

I seem to have missed pages of interesting stuff.  Air fryer toastie - make the full sandwich , place in air fryer, however, add a bit of weight to the top slice as it tends to fly off.

Also find it makes lovely fried bread, brush with olive oil, 3 mins a side. Pop an egg on that piece of fried bread and you'll be pretty happy with the result

I've given up on any debate about politics or contentious issues. After 25 odd years I've finally admitted that the man who said "no one has ever changed their mind on the internet" was right.

Taken me to get into my 60s to get there but same as. I've probably gone a bit further than giving up on debate to almost completely switching off. Watch and read very little political news,  stopped following people on twitter that caused me to rail or feel very supportive because at some point I'd allow myself to get vexed or over partisan. Stick to sports and general entertainment, toasties, music , friends family and ale and life is pretty darn good.

Glen! So nice to hear from you. This diary is badly in need of a little sophistication.

Im deffo going to try the fried bread with egg but I need more deets.

So do I oil one side, put it in oil up, and then the same other side?

Do I add a raw egg and if so when?

Bear in mind I have to be careful about what suggestions I listen to. Doubleup told me to watch a TV series called Silo. It's shite but the Mrs loves it. We are currently 13 one hour episodes in and I want to kill myself.

Regrettably it's not a one pot solution.

Brush the bread both sides and put it in , turning once, halfway through.

Still got to fry the egg though :-) but find air fryer fried bread is much easier to make nice and crisp with not much oil,  than actual fried fried bread.

I've been to Jersey 5 times on rugby tour. Only ever seen the rugby club and the bars in St Heliers.
