One last Mouldy Old Dough Factoid - as a No 1, it still holds a unique record. Anyone know what that is?

Here they are.

Case closed

Case now nailed shut.

I'm pretty sure that Terry Venables had a go at being a pop singer during his playing days.

I'd wager that would be right up there in the naffness stakes..

Didn't he open a Club or Bar?, just so he could sing to the punters.

That would figure. I've never met a more bent guy who somehow kept his reputation with the Media, even got the England Managers job once. A complete fraud in his financial dealings. I never met him though.

Yes, in Kensington

His hit single went "what are you making those eyes at me for"

I remember seeing it, he wore Velvet.

The other day, a member of my family described me to someone as "A Gambler".

I didn't agree, I don't see myself as a gambler at all.  When you get down to the nitty gritty, it all depends on how you define gambling.

He said that a gambler was someone who bet money on something when the outcome was uncertain. I said that betting on roulette, blackjack, or the toss of a coin was gambling, but what if the person making the bet has some influence on the outcome?

Would all boxers or snooker players be classed as a gamblers, or would they only become gamblers if they had a bet on themselves?

Is anything that involves chance gambling, even if the odds are on your side? If so, are casino owners gamblers?

Chambers has 2 definitions of the verb to gamble, you would I assume consider yourself a gambler based on the first and consider yourself to not be a gambler based on the second.

Quote
gamble verb (gambled, gambling) 1 tr & intr to bet (usually money) on the result of a card game, horse race, etc. 2 (also gamble something away) to lose (money or other assets) through gambling.

so you're both right, and wrong
