I spotted this little beauty sitting outside someones office.

It's a Porsche, but does anyone know the model or the approximate year of manufacture?

It could very well be a replica as well.

Just had a look at some Speedsters for sale, and comparing the designs it looks like a late 60s/early 70s design.

It wasn't a replica Kin. you can tell when you see it in the flesh.

Also, I think replica's have to have modern number plates.

Believe it or not, those early Porsche models were the Protons of that era, they were made from spare VW parts.

I've seen some 80s replicas that are absolutely indistinguishable from the originals.  There are also lots of 'rebuilds' that actually share very few components of the original car.

No they don't.  A lot are built on the chassis of very old cars.

Most of the 356 replicas use just enough bits from the donor beetle at time of building to be able to use the original registration, which then means you can change them for older plates.
After it's been built and tested you can change as many bits as you like.

Oh well I wouldn't argue because I don't know for sure.

I knew that you could buy an old registration number, but I didn't think you were allowed to use the old-style plates.

Here's a 'rebuilt' car that was actually put together in the 80s:  http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C47630  probably on the chassis of a much older car.

These 'rebuilt' cars are around £20,000 to buy, whereas the original ones can cost well over 6-figures.

Beautiful cars definitely.

You quoted me as I was editing my original post to say exactly that.  Grin

Read my original post.  It doesn't say edited, so like I was saying I was just finishing it off when you quoted it.

I still say the picture you posted is that of a replica rather than an original...
