Just out of curiosity, do you peeps use your local library much?
For many years I didn't have access to the library. Now that I do, I use it all the time.
I found it so exciting to have free access to all those books, and the novelty never wore off.
I am a member of my local library, however i dont take advantage of the facility like i should. My main problem is making the choice, if somebody recommends a book i'm set but for me to pick out of so many is daunting and generally puts me off. What a pathetic excuse but i'm sticking with it!
If there is nothing particular I want, I choose any 6 (My library max) non fiction and at least half of them will turn out to be a cracking read.

Thats a good idea, i love reading and can get through a book in a few days, problem is I dont get enough books!
We should start a blonde book club! I dont know if i mentioned it before but i think it would be a cracking place to discuss a wide range of books.

I thought about it a while ago and just think with the diverse group of people we have on blonde we would get a great mix of books and debate about them. I'm not sure how to go about setting it up or how the structure would work...

i dont know what its like in other libraries round the country but if i want to read a particular book i always check the local library first, if they dont have it they will check to see if anyother library in the county have it , for a few pence , its delivered to my local library in a few weeks at the most for me to pick up, if its not in stock in any library in the county if you ask nicely they will buy it for you.i am always phoning up and just renewing my books for another 3 weeks, don't like paying fines.lol

I forget to renew my books and that causes Mrs Red to give me an earbashing for wasting money. Not a pretty sight.

i know the feeling,it can be expensive if you forget, saves a lot of hassle being able to renew them over the phone, they get a bit peed off though when you have had them for 12 weeks lol

We could do a book club, its quite easy to run, first you pick a shortlist of books by opening a thread for title suggestions ... then from that list you vote for your top 6, then one book per month is picked and during that month (or fortnight, depending on consensus) you read the book and at the end of the given time, you then swap your thoughts and comments on the book .... of course you may post bits during the reading time, but everyone has to commit to not posting spoilers.
I need to start reading fiction books and stop reading biographies ... so I would be up for it.

When you put it like that, i think we should crack on! My suggestion is Stasiland by Anna Funder. Its the guardians book club choice for oct and after having a little read about it seems like a good first choice.
