Here are the chip counts of the remaining twenty players from Day 1A:

Peter Linton   93300
Mark Dalimre   77025
Sam Trickett   58375
Joey Lovelady   51125
Hamid Rowshanaei   42825
Ganesh Rao   37400
Michael Ellis   33475
Barry Smith   28325
Mickey Wernick   27050
Lynne Beaumont   27000
Richard Stanley   26800
Keith Hawkins   25950
David Smith   24700
Kerry Taylor   20850
Alan Vinnicombe   17800
Gareth Teatum   14900
Ian Farrell   13100
Matthew Buckland   12850
Gary Wilson   10350
Jason De Freitas   8825

So Pete is the big chip leader, the problem looked from where I was standing that people were too willing to try and play back at him (and also Sam Trickett and Joey Lovelady) from the blinds by just flat-calling and then playing OOP which is the worst thing you can do. More aggressive positional play and trapping with big hands is perhaps what's needed.

Anyway, we should be in line for a bigger turnout today. Play starts at 2pm. Let us know who you're supporting!

We've lost two already.

First, A Caygill got it all-in with on a board against Priyan De Mel's , the ultimate blank the Two Clubs on the river.

Then on the table next to it, G Purewell (although maybe it's actually Garinder Purewal, I'm not sure) raised preflop with Aces, got 3 callers and then bet 400 on the 9-5-4 flop, the first player raised to 1,100 and Cheryl Routledge flat-called, any him with the Aces made it 4,500, the flop raiser passed and Chery set him in with a set of Fives which held up. Thanks to Sunny Chattha for that one.

Last month's winner in Manchester, Marc Goodwin.

Indeed it is veritable carnage out there - numbers are up to 123 already, with 120 left. Yikes.

I managed of course not to see any of those exits, but I saw a lot of people not in the slightest bit afraid to throw their chips around at this early stage.

For example, on Table Taylor, I saw the eponymous Rob bet 500 on a board, only for Paul Donaghey to make it 1500. Marc Goodwin comes along for the ride too, and Rob Taylor calls. The river is the and I believe it is checked down.

Paul Donaghey -
Rob Taylor - for a nice pot, and probably not happy that everyone checked it after him on the river
Marc Goodwin - mucks

Also not wasting time in getting involved is James Akenhead, betting out 550 on a three clubs flop, flat-called by one Steve Craig.

They bothe check the turn, and then James tries another 550 on the river. Steve makes it 1300, and James dwells long and hard before making the call. Sadly for him though it's the wrong call - Mr Craig turns over and James just mucks.

Mr Leo Kam, incidentally my Hoodie Of The Day in the same awesome number he wore to the Irish Open, is not taking any crap from anyone. He bets out on a two spades flop, only for one M Mccaritiy to raise him a hefty 3k. To which Leo calmly announces all in before going back to his cup of tea. Mr Mccaritiy now dwells up long enough for me to have a conversation with Rumit at the other end of the table. It goes like this:

"Hello Dana."
"Hello Rumit." (Noticing miniature Rubik's Cube) "Is that a new cube?"
"What, this? No, I've had it for ages."
"But I thought you lost it."
"Oh. Yes. I did. This is a new cube."
"So it is an new cube."
Maz Nawab - "Give it here a second."
Rumit - "No."
Me - "You don't mess with another man's cube, man."

Mr Mccaritiy passes and Leo Kam takes the chunky pot.

Paul Moss has knocked out M McCaritiy, Moss moving in on the river with Aces, being called but his opponent mucking. So we'll never know...

Simon Zach dwells up against a 2.5k bet on a two spades board, I think from Dave Clark Jr, but decides against it.

Some girl-on-girl action now with Chery Routledge betting 500 on the river of a board, Michaela Johnson calling and they both show Jacks.

Incidentally, it was Garinder Purewal who went out earlier as I've spotted him on the rail.

Maz Nawab is OUT, didn't see the exit but most of the damage was done earlier when Maz was all-in on a with only to be called by Zak Aslam's . You can see his reaction here (and also dealer Appu using 'the force' to move the chips):

Karl Mahrenholz (looks like he lost his lips in a prop bet again) and birthday boy Tim Blake

Henning Granstad and Praz Bansi have been sparring a little, Henning doing better with around 13k to Praz' 7k but they just got into a notable pot when Henning raised from the hijack with to 175 and Praz made it 600 from the button. Henning called.

Henning checks, Praz bets 1,100. Henning now raises to 5,000. Cue a long think from Praz, and then a statement, "I don't want to play with just 4,000..." He goes for it with Queens. Henning misses all his outs when it comes an offsuit King and Four. As a result Henning is down to 6k and Prazi bounces up to 14k.

Surprising Exits Of The Hour

Mr Dan Owston is gone, running his pocket Queens into Ken Wong's pocket Sevens, flop obviously coming down K-4-7. Most surprising thing about his exit being that he had only 675 chips remaining when he found the Queens. Not sure how that happened, but either way he's OUT.

Also gone is Level 2 Rumit, most unfortunately. Leo Kam raised his big blind, and finding Rumit decided it was worth defending. The flop came 8-T-4 with two clubs, so Rumit check-raised. Leo called. When the third club came in on the turn, Rumit went all in. Leo took a long time making his decision, but eventually called with pocket Queens, one of them the . Another club on the river. Ouch.

Astonishing Hand Of The Hour

Mr Sunny Chattha.

As I arrived at the table, there is around 7k in the pot, and the board read . Both Sunny and Paul Hambleton checks.

River - - Sunny bets out, and Paul calls. Paul's flush has come in. Sunny turns over, um, for the full house. He's on around 15k now.

Maria is OUT. She held Nines on a T-9-2 board but ran into Tens.

Also out is Shelley Rubenstein who managed to fold bottom set to Steve Jelinek's middle set earlier but then ran a set of fours into a set of Jacks on a J-2-4-K board.

Charlie Denton is OUT after running Kings into Gary Clucas' Aces.

Indeed if Roberto was ever in any trouble, he's not now - on an above-average 14k last I saw. Looks like our chip leader currently are Leo Kam and the below lady, Ms Cheryl Routledge, both on around 25k. Apparently Cheryl got in on a freeroll.

Also doing well is Skalie Jon Kalmar, who's just knocked out one Laurence Houghton - all in on a K-3-9 flop, Mr Houghton must have been hysterically amused when he turned over his pocket Threes only for Skalie to turn over pocket Nines. Mr Houghton now probably vomiting in toilets.

Praz has added to his stack with the exit of Darren Clayton.

Praz raised to 450 UTG, Gorden 'GiMac' McArthur made it 1,350 and then Clayton pushed for around 3,500. Tony Bedford passed Jacks in the big blind. Praz moved in and GiMac folded his Queens after a minutes thought.

Praz:

Darren:

Two Clubs

"He saved you," said Praz, "Otherwise I flat-call you and we get it all-in on the flop."
