Maybe Peter was just getting it in on any flop, so fair enough.
But you came on saying you would fold on a bad flop, thats just ridic and the worst thing you could do.
Hi Guys - didn't realize this caused such a stir.
BTW - just gone about 100 from the money. As for the play in question - I would take this option every time. As Gamblor said, I had a full round on the button if it came a real bad flop like A-2-2. Why? I won many events from little chips including my first big limit event in LA when I was down to 200 chips and the blinds at 300-600. I know it doesnt happen often, but it would'nt happpen at all if you don't give it a chance to. And as for moving all-in - its serves no purpose whatsoever. Ok, so I may have won 1600 more if I did push pre fllop. But that is small reward for limiting myrself to just one chance.
As to what Phil Hellmuth would have done - 100% he would have done the same.

that kind of thinking is prob why the top class are top class and most of us arent. I would have just shoved em in thinking exactly like Rich did.
wp Pete, shame you fell a little short of the cash.

I wouldn't get them in there. And if i was flatting pre, id 100% be getting it in on any flop. Why would you want to be left with 1 bb? And why would you want the opportunity for that? Your losing out on so much in the long run like that.
gg and unlucky on not quite making the cash Peter.

Hey Rich
I get your poiint, but this was very much a unique situation in terms of having an option in the first place. Normally, when short-stacked like that, you tend to be all-in without much choice. In this case, I had a chocie. And I simply chose to give myslef another option IF the flop was really bad for my hand. Of course, any sort of draw would have seen them go in - but how would you feel if the flop came A-2-2 and you are in with no hope of winning? Also, there are countless stories I could tell you about other players winning a tournament with much less than 850 chips.
