Gangster Squad

If you're willing to accept the cliches and see it as an homage to classic films of its kind, I think the delivery is very good in this modern day update and especially made good by the actors in it. It does wear off somewhat towards the end but the build up to it I found was very entertaining. Some movie critics gave it bad reviews, it's definitely one to split opinions.  7/10

I watched "The Cincinnati Kid" at the weekend. Loved it. Last time I watched it, probably 20+ years ago I didn't know poker.

My favourite poker film by an immeasurable distance.

Edward G Robinson made Lancey into such a wonderful character, but it was originally supposed to be Spencer Tracey who played the part. He had to pull out at the last minute.

Haha, the film is actually pretty decent too imo... First 5 minutes is to hook the audience obviously!

iLL Manors

Gritty British film set in the eastend written and directed by Ben Drew (Plan B). Follows the life of a handful of the eastends finest scumbags. Great casting with relatively unknowns. Hard hitting.
Definitely worth a watch.

Watched the bucket list a couple of nights ago. Bucket load of poo. Managed to fall asleep half way through for 30 minutes.

Dissappointed.

A lot of people do. In fact, probably the majority of people that watched it, thought it was good. Maybe I was hungry or something. Will watch again and see if I change my mind.

I guess he was just not ready?

Not sure I've ever met anyone like any of the characters in that film and yet I still think it's brilliant.

Unfortunately ,most of the real characters in poker are not around any more.  Sad
