Also watched She's funny that way.

Reminded me of old slap stick comedy.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

I enjoyed it, possibly the best of the five film franchise.

reasonably passable story with good gadgets and stunts plenty of twists and turns, lots of different locations to look at, cruise is really good in it and the female lead rebecca fergsuon is excellent

whole thing doesn't require much thought, perfect couple of hour summer blockbuster material

Yeah, it's good.  If you like Pixar films you'll enjoy it.  I don't think it's quite up there with Toy Story but it is good.  There were a few scenes where I thought it was being dragged out just as I thought it, it changed.  Has some very funny moments in it (sitting around the dinner table, Mum, Girl and Dad for instance) and it made the Mrs cry.

I'd say 8/10

Pixar never get it wrong. Up there with Wall-E this one imo.

Just watched Kermode's rundown of his 10 least favourite films this year...

Sure was surprised that I thought 2 of the top 3 were pretty funny Cheesy

Southpaw

Jake Gyllenhaal beefs up and cuts up for his role as Billy Hope ( I wondered why my better half was so keen to see this ), a boxing world champion who seems to have it all, a beautiful wife, a cute kid and all the trappings multi million dollar fights bring.

After a personal tragedy things spiral out of control for our hero and soon the money, house and cars are gone. Cue Billy losing it and child services stepping in and taking his young daughter into care.

What we have here is Rocky with a social drama angle.. there are no surprises here as our hero gets it together to rise again in his fights both in the ring and out of it.
I suppose theres not much you can do with a boxing film and primarily much of the story has been done before. However despite the cliches the films resonably well done and acted and the fight scenes are pretty good, fairly brutal, plenty of claret etc and you get a resonable feel good factor ( missus actually shed a tear, soppy mare  Smiley )..

So for the deece fight scenes and Jakes ripped physique for the ladies a resonable

6.5/10

Why is the film Southpaw about a right-handed boxer?

He switches to Southpaw in the fight climax...

Wait...the title of the film is a spoiler?
