Another recent exit is that of Alan Vinnicombe. He pointed a menacing finger towards current chip daddy David La Ronde adding, "It was that guy who knocked me out. It was fair enough, I had A-J versus A-K, jack on flop, king on turn, but he's been hitting everything."

And the Vinnicombster wasn't lying, as a quick glance at La Ronde's stack confirms that he's boasting a monster monster stack and the overall chip lead with 69,000 in chips. Even Iwan Jones is in awe of La Ronde's ever-increasing stack.

It's our turn to pick up the scraps from the buffet, so join us in around 15 minutes when we return for Part Deux of today's opening day.

Do we get a chip count during the breakage?

As I trundled over to the far end of the room, I spotted TightEnd nurturing an 11,000 stack, thus implying that he had played a hand. Startling by this revelation, I raced over, notepad in hand, ready to consume all the drama.

"Have you played a hand?" I asked amazed.

"Yes, I've been up and down, up to 13,000, down to 9,000, and have now settled on around 11,000," replied the Tightster.

"Wow, there was a vicious rumour that you folded queens under the gun."

As you can see from Tighty's monster fluctuations, he has been a busy boy, although is still searching for a run of good cards that will allow to play more liberally.

"If I could just get one of those early double ups people talk about, then I can start beating the table up."

Russell Cawley (Ariston) has been launched onto the rail after failing to out-flip Richard Pain. All in with against , the flop was a welcome one, but the turn about as accommodating as Faulty Towers, and Ariston was gone.

Could you please pass on my best wishes to Cupcake and ask him how he got on with the Chateauneuf-du-pape.

As Ariston was enduring the dust-biting process, Kevin O'Leary was being left hanging by Andrew Bradshaw who was mulling over a 1,600 bet on a three diamonds Two Diamonds Two Diamonds board.

"I've got a small flush," confessed Andrew as he counted out the call, perhaps fearful of being met by a full house or bigger flush. "I call," he announced finally as he trickled his chips over the line.

O'Leary folded quicker than a hiccup, leaving Andrew to collect the pot with .

I think blonde is going to have to supply a bok smilie in the near future (perhaps we can call it Karabiner), as John McGrane has just been eliminated from today's event at the hands of Steve Tucker. Coming over the top with , cupcake was looked up by , the latter holding up on a board.
