Hi,

The Champion of Champions tournament is a £75,000 freeroll open only to players who have won GUKPT tournaments during 2008. Main event and side event winners from all 9 legs and the Grand Final qualify for a seat. The winners of the Grosvenor Grand Prix and the winners of side events (witha buy in of £100 or more) from the Grand Prix festival also qualify, as do the winners of the online festival that took place last month and the winners of the 11 monthly GUKPT leagues on Blue Square Poker from January to November.

The number of starting chips each player receives depends on the buy in of the event they won to qualify - most players will start with 5,000 chips, but players who win events with buy ins of £500 or more get larger starting stacks. Players who win more than one event will get more chips, up to a maximum of 25,000 per player. So far 55 players have won their seats and there are a maximum of 45 more places up for grabs. Two players (Dave Penly and Jerome Bradpiece) have won two events each.

The event will take place on the 4th of December at the G casino in Luton, which is during their Christmas Cracker festival. We are still undecided about whether it will be a one day or a two day event, but are erring towards making it a one day event.  Anyway, the reason for this post is because we intend to do something a bit out of the ordinary with regard to the prize structure for this event. What we intend to do is to give each player a voting slip at the beginning of the tournament for them to vote on which of three or four prescribed prize structures they would prefer. The one with the most vote is the one we will use. Here are some possibilities that we have come up with, but would welcome any other suggestions that anyone would like to make.  These are just suggestions to get the ball rolling. The choices we actually give the players at the event have yet to be determined.

Option 1 - Pay final table only

1st - £25,000
2nd - £15,000
3rd - £10,000
4th - £8,000
5th - £6,000
6th - £4,500
7th - £3,000
8th - £2,000
9th - £1,500

Option 2 - Pay last two tables - Flat

1st - £20,000
2nd - £14,000
3rd - £9,000
4th - £7,000
5th - £6,000
6th - £5,000
7th - £4,000
8th - £3,000
9th - £2,000
10th - £1,000
11th-18th - £500

Option 3 - Pay last two tables - steep

1st - £25,000
2nd - £14,000
3rd - £7,500
4th - £6,500
5th - £5,500
6th - £4,500
7th - £3,500
8th - £2,500
9th - £1,500
10th-18th - £500

btw when it comes to voting i think you should only have 2 options, the reason being here i can see the top heavy people will love option 1, the others will be separated between 2 and 3 and so 1 will always win.

Just a thought anyway, i love the idea, more innovations from Mr Raab

I reckon Option 1, most of the players in the event will have a few quid anyway and be wanting to play to win big I reckon. Also makes that final table bubble more interesting.

Dont ask any of the regulars at Naps in Sheffield see this thread, they'll be opting for option 4: wait for the first player to bust and go for a 109 way chop.

winner takes all.

Not a bad option. I wonder how many players would go for it.

They prob do a chop deal that exactly mirrors option 1 on the day anyway.

How much will the rake be ?

Massive. It is actually a £250,000 event, but we are deducting £175,000 for those little expenses that willl be incurred...lol

Option 1 I think, just because everyone who is in will have had one or more decent cashes and won't generally be looking simply to ladder in the money.

Pay me the lot, regardless of finish position.

(Worth a try, surely!)
