Straight off the bat we lose Shahnawaz Randera in 18th place... He raised to 4,500 preflop, and it passed to Tom Rutter in the big blind, who made it another 8k. Within a couple of seconds Randera had pushed and Tom instacalled, as you do with
. Randera held
, and it was pretty much all over after the flop of
with the following
doing nothing. Tom was giving himself the traditional poker-player's hard time in the break for not getting a lot more out of his Kings vs. Queens scenario just now, but will probably be in a better mood now.
Meanwhile Randera does the walk of sadness - at least as far as the sofa behind the table. Oh the bitter taste of defeat. And the lovely taste of coffee.

Fabulous Glittering Snoopy!
Hovering with a medium-low stack yet again, he was sanguine in the break. "Going to need a double up," he said. "Any time now this lucky protector [he sports both the plastic-encased Snoopy and a grubby $1 chip from Binions] is going to do its job."

Fran is out, she raised to 4,500 from mid-position and was called by Andrew Tuxworth in the big blind.
Check check.
Tuxworth checks, Fran moves in, and Tuxworth insta-calls with
having caught a four-outer against Fran's
which miss the
river. We're now down to 16 players.

Berridge Barrage!
He's in every hand at the moment! And they haven't exactly been going his way...
Starting with
hand #1
-
Scott
Byron
raises to 4k preflop, called in position by Richard and out of it by
Paul
Gourlay
.
Flop:
Paul checks, Scott makes it 7k and Richard calls.
Turn:
Scott bets out 11k; call.
River:
Scott bets out 25k; call.
Scott
Byron
flips
for only the stone cold nuts, while
Richard
Berridge
kicks himself a little, perhaps, as he shows down a losing
.
Hand #2
Scott
Byron
limps in early position, and then calls a Berridge raise to 6k.
Flop:
Check-check
Turn:
Quick check-check
River:
They both check so fast I missed it and
Richard
Berridge
flips some winning
.
Hand #3
Richard raises pre to 4,500, and finds big blind
Andrew
Tuxworth
re-raising to 11,500. He calls immediately. Again, the checking it down progresses at lightning speed until the board reads
at which point Richard pays off Andrew's river bet of 5k, mucking when he's shown Eights.
Pictured, left to right:
Scott
Byron
,
Richard
Berridge
, Snoopy. I have to say that even after nearly two days even I have no idea what Byron's face looks like.

Richard Hawes raises to 4,200 on the button. Tom Rutter in the big blind, asks for a count and Hawes has about 30k behind, the former takes out a big stack of purples and sets them down on the table and Hawes moves his stack in faster than Jen chasing a newspaper when she finds the crossword hasn't been done yet.
Tom gives a half-nervous, half-embarrassed giggle.
Richard:
Tom:
Richard Hawes up to 70k, Tom Rutter probably on around the 85k - 90k range. (he's probably reading this then will suddenly count and tell us.

Down one more - It was permashortstack Thomas Besnier who made a reasonable squeeze of three limpers preflop from the big blind for c.15k. But limper #2, Przemek Rusin, made the call with
and found Besnier with the admittedly live
. The board paired nothing but the Ten, however, and we're down to 15 players already.
Pictured: Rusin. Intimidating. Likes the call button. Thomas Besnier made an exit so hasty I literally didn't have time to lift up the camera to snap him.
