Do APAT events still exclude most of the players who play in a GUKPT?

I doubt that the APAT excludes most GUKPT players.....but a good number of GUKPT final tables include APAT players and oddly, the last three or four Gala events were won by APAT players.

You cursed em Duffy! You got your APAT minions to bring Gala down from the inside, I'm onto you!

My apologies to APAT for that. There are 5 APAT events that have Champion of Champion seats to the winners. Butlin will confirm shortly.

Thanks for that Jonathan and thanks to BSQ and Grosvenor for 20 GUKPT Main Event, Champion of Champions or Grand Final seats, that will be be won by APAT live and online Champions in 2009.

I'm extremely sorry to see the Gala Tour go, but it is possible that they have been sandwiched between APAT (plus Sky, Virgin, PKR)  and the GUKPT.  That might not have been visible in their event numbers, but it may have been in the follow through conversion to Gala's online poker business.

Unfortunately recession is a very real factor in this type of decision making and I'm sure their priority would be in preserving jobs versus supporting a loss making activity.   I applaud them for making the right decision and I'm sure they will be back.

It has been very obvious that Grosvenor has been managing its cashflow at casino level very carefully for the past twelve / eighteen months and I suspect they are pretty well positioned locally right now.

My point is you can hardly compare the APAT and GPT tours given that APAT is a members only tour that excludes a large proportion of the poker circuit.

Who was comparing?

It plays poker in venues throughout the British Isles - therefore it's a Tour - that was the only point being made wasn't it?

The GUKPT & APAT Tours are, by design, very different animals.

They are both supreme examples of "fit for purpose".

Long may they both last, innovate, & improve.

They are all members only tours and I think you will find that the percentage of the poker market that APAT excludes is extremely small and probably reducing as opposed to growing.  Remembering that APAT brings players in and grows those markets.

Drop the G and you've got the BPT, Blonde Poker Tour. Who knows, maybe their inaugural event winner could end up being eligible for the Champion of Champions tournament.  Roll Eyes

Tony, give me a call, we've got business to discuss...

I am not saying the APAT events are not good for poker, i am saying they are not comparable to the Gala or Grov tours as they do not exclude pro;s

Real shame.

Busy popular tour....can't believe they can make it pay, what with the table games/bar takings....as well as the online sats promoting the Gala/Coral websites

oh well gap in the market.....maybe Sky could add a zero to their £50 tour.....................   Grin

The GUKPT Summer Series is pitched at this level. Three four-day festivals with £200 and £300 side events and a £500 main event - all two day events. They all take place in June - starting in Bolton, then Aberdeen and finally Walsall. GUKPT ranking points and C of C seats in all events.
