I dislocated my little toe, it stuck out kinda like an L shape, looked pretty sick tbh, thinking back I shoulda took a piccy, hmmm anyway too late aint going to do it again just for a photo shoot. Back to the story, whilst I waited on Darren coming home to take me to A &  E all I could think was ..when is the pain going to start and how bad will this feel, amazingly it never started, yup no pain at all just awful to look at. The only part that hurt was the injections between my toes that they froze it with, now that was uncomfy, even the minutes that they took putting it back in place did not hurt.

i am off playing golf in 10 mins, so here's a quick taster. religion for me is a form of child abuse.i was dragged up a catholic, and hated every minute of it. parents brain wash their kids. in short, why not let a person decide whether or not they wish to be religious, when they are old enough to make there own decisions. i see no good coming from religion, only hate and violence. remember the holy wars, i don't, but this is a contradiction, if i ever heard one. holy war/virgin whore, words that don't go together.i am an atheist, being brought up a catholic i can repent my sins on my death bed and be accepted into heaven, if i choose. maybe i'll edge my bets

i look forward to seeing your responses

That's about religion in general though.

Don't you see any difference between individual religions?

Are some better or worse than others?

Anyone - I'm thinking this could be a good thread to keep everything that could cause heated debate in.

Not that this topic necessarily will - I think there might be too much of a consensus on blonde for it.

Most people who are religious / spiritual are peaceful and friendly people, they use their personal beliefs for many different reasons. It in the norm does not effect anyone else or how they chose to live their lives even if it is a different way of thinking.

I small minority of religious extremists who choose to impose their beliefs on other cultures or people should not tarnish the majority of the religious groups that have a positive effect on many people.

Being a christian or catholic is not just about going to mass, saying your prayers or other simple ways in which to identify yourself from others. Its about living your life a certain way, having moral values and treating people with respect. Characterising anyone who is religious is narrowminded and something I expect to come out of Dawkins large mouth.

It's a lazy and frankly annoying argument for people to blame all the woes of the world on religion. Just as religious people who spout off about God does your head in I feel the same about people who continually run down any form of spiritualism or religion. There has always been wars, fighting and disputes over many issues I really don't think religion is at the centre of them all.

A good catholic school and upbringing is far from a disadvantage is today's society, like you I grew up being in a catholic school, I went to mass twice a week, said prayers and found it boring. I made a choice when I was an adult to stop going to church but I am not angry or bitter about how I was brought up.

Acidmouse speaks the truth!

Good post.

FWIW I was brought up as a catholic, I suppose I still am a catholic?

Do I believe in it all? No.

So are you a catholic or not?  Why do you want to be a catholic if you don't believe in it?  Is it like a tribe where you feel you belong?

Attacking Dawkins is irrelevant to the debate.  He is one man, with his opinion.  He's one atheist and doesn't speak for anyone else.

It's like me saying that this bloke is representative of catholics:  http://www.jsonline.com/features/religion/45191277.html - and I'm sure you don't share his views.

I made a reference to Dawkins becasue he spouts the same stuff that bigusdikus does but in a more eliquent manner. I could have said Jo Blogs who talks shat in Leeds market about Catholism, but the reference would have been lost on 99.9% of people on here.

I never said I want to be a catholic still, I suppose I'm looking at it from the point of view that I was brought up as one, my family are catholics, I come from a catholic backround. Therefore it was more a question. That's why I added the ? To the end of the statement.

OK.  It's just interesting that you even think about being a catholic if you don't believe in it.
