Excellent chest session today getting back on the 40s at last.

I cheated a little bit by skipping a set at 37.5 but I was feeling strong so thought I might as well.

I don't know if it's the creatine or the placebo affect of using creatine but I felt really good and confident that I could lift the 40s.

Tbh I don't mind placebos as long as they work.

Diet has been pretty good since my holiday, I've pretty much stuck to what I was on before.

One slight slip on Saturday night which involved hideous about of alcohol but I don't mind that at the weekend.

It's all about moderation atm and if I only drink once a week I'll be very happy.

Another good chest session today although it was tough in the heat.

I felt like the strength was there to do more but my joints have been aching a bit and it put me off somewhat.

I've purchased come cod liver oil tablets and also a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement to hopefully helps a bit.

I've never bothered with these in the past but my joints have had some stick over the years so hopefully this will help.

Has anybody had any experience with these? I've read lots of mixed reports about their effectiveness but I guess you never really know until you try for yourself.

Hi Matt

Since i broke my leg 10 years ago, I always struggled with my ankle joints when running, to the point I hardly ever ran. Tried glucosamine but no real difference. A couple of years ago added omega 3 fish oils and noticed a major difference straight away. Was running 10 miles pain free last year.

Cheers for that.

Might be a bad idea for me to try both at the same time. If I notice an improvement I won't know which one is actually helping.

Hopefully it's the cod liver oil. They're loads cheaper.

Used to take all of the above. I did karate from early teens, and played hockey since late teens. Both activities that are meant to be bad for joints. So I took high doses of cod liver oil, glucosamine sulphate and MSM. My joints were fine and didn't ache to etc. Must be the supplements.

Anyway, maybe four years ago I read a number of studies into the effectiveness of these things and they all pretty much came to a similar conclusion - benefits are minimal / non-existent. So, I thought I try my own experiment and stopped taking all of them.

Joints have been the same as previously, no pains or aches and no difference in the amount of movement, etc. MSM has zero clinical trials that show its effectiveness in helping joint 'issues', but I'm sure some cod liver oil everyday won't do any harm and might help some people.

If you are planning on buying lots of these, then healthspan and zipvit are amongst the cheapest places and deliver quickly.

My joints didn't use to ache, they do now. Not during exercise, but after, and not in a really bad way, in fact it's a kind of pleasant, "I've earned it" sort of ache.

I do suffer from a little joint stiffness until I get em moving.

I take the Sainsbury's Clacium and cod liver (2 in 1) capsules every day...can't say I have noticed a difference but doesn't seem to hurt either.

p.s. Matt I stopped taking creatine for a few weeks and did notice the difference...am convinced there is something to it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure creatine works.

I've known too many people who've noticed a positive difference for it to not be working.

I'll give my judgment in a couple of weeks.

Thanks fellas. The most important question still remains.

Which flavour?

Matt, I'm not at deeteedee on Sunday (Dot2dot with Stu) but I'll just order some I think. These look good for after training, whereas before I train I'll be having something like this http://www.bodyactive-online.co.uk/Shopping/PdSIS-GO-Bar.asp - which has more carbs, some protein and very little fat.

Can't go wrong with the chocolate flavour mate.
