I cut down to this Matt.

Before a typical day at home would be:

Breakfast: Brown bread ham sandwiches, probably a packet of crips and can of coke

Lunch: Eat out (Fast food) or some sort of oven cooked meat/starch.

Dinner: Spag Bol/Indian food (curry and 2 chappattis)/meat and starch/take away

At uni the past year I've basically eaten out the whole year. Two meals a day. A rotation of chinese/Indian/Pizza/Kebab/Sandwiches (shop bought)/sushi/junk snacks such as biscuits. Also a fair amount of drinking as well.

I'm currently in the process of working out a plan, but it's basically going to be a low carb plan. I'm going to try and refrain from using the word diet, since I think diets are short term solutions for whatever problem someone has such as fitting into a wedding dress or looking good for a holiday. I'm in need of something much more drastic and a longer term solution, so I'm hoping to change my lifestyle and way of eating food in general.  Guy has been excellent in giving me pointers and advice, and he's done really well so far.

Example of me changing to this new lifestyle. Matt recommended to me the carvery lunch being served at DTD on Saturday. I decided to have it too but passed on the roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding. Before I would be laughing at the idea of having a roast without potatoes, but now I realise just because it's traditional or usual to do it, doesn't mean I have to. So I enjoyed a good lunch, but was healthy too Smiley

Okay so how we going to do this?  My preferences initially are to have a 3 month period, beginning 1st Sept,  and a bet/prop that will motivate me to give it a proper go.  Obviously the nut outcome is that we both lose a decent amount of weight and become fitter.  Probably up for subsequent props to keep it off/lose more after.

This alone can change your eating for life, along with timing of meals and portion size

Another big one is NEVER be afraid to ask for changes/substitues in restaurants, and if they wont, dont go back.

Food today

340g Lean Steak Mince & 2/3 Jar Uncle Bens Chilli Sauce

1 Pro 50 Bar

1 Maxi Milk

1 MP Cookie

1 Scoop Gaspari Myofusion

Macros

Protein: 218g

Carbs:   84g

Fat:      53g

Cals:     1780

I was up late and didn't eat my first meal until 6pm due to laziness on my part more than anything. Still managed to get my protein intake up for the day still keeping cals low by adding a splitting a protein bar with my meals and walloping a cookie which has almost 40g protein in it.

If you want some help mate let me know. I'm more than happy to offer advice.

The first thing I'd say is don't worry about using the word diet. Instead of avoiding it just change it's meaning when you refer to it.

Your diet is simply what you eat. Don't think of it as restricting what you eat as in being 'on a diet'.

Just lay out your plan of what you're going to consume daily and that's your diet.

If you're looking for a long term solution your diet is a critical part of it so don't try to avoid the word.

Is that the only 'real' food you've eaten today?

Also did you eat it all in one sitting?

Just had my day 2 weigh in.

100.7kg so a tiny loss which I'll settle for.

Entirely up to you mate.

Important one is obviously the final day but I'll be weighing in daily.

I've made a little spreadsheet to record everyone if they do update daily.

If people update reasonably often we can track who's doing best and maybe have a few sweats up to the last day.

So what's final weigh in?

Mine will be August 31st at midnight.

Everyone else's will be September 1st at whatever time of day they did their first weigh in.

Update any other day you can but always at the same time.

Normally I'd have 1/2kg of steak mince and that would give me 3 portions of chilli. and about 1/2 my daily protein intake. I don't have time myself when I'm working to make food so have to make do with bars etc. to top me up.

I was up very late this afternoon and had my first lot of chilli at 6pm after the gym. Normally I'd eat more food and not be in bed until almost 3pm Cheesy

I think I'll just give myself a sweat and weigh myself on the 1st when I go to the gym. It'll be the morning that day before work.
